Facing T.J. Watt is no easy task, especially this season with his confidence running high. The Steelers head to Indianapolis to take on the Colts, fresh off their first win of the season, a 21-16 victory over the Bears. In that game, the Colts’ defense was particularly effective, holding the Bears to just 63 rushing yards. They’ll look to repeat that success in this week when they face a tough Steelers squad.
When asked about how to handle T.J. Watt, Colts head coach Shane Steichen acknowledged the challenge. “Very. The guy is a phenomenal football player. He’s always near the ball and plays with a relentless motor, giving his all on every snap. We definitely need a plan for him. They’re playing great defense right now,” Steichen said during his media appearance. He also highlighted how the Steelers’ defense is giving up just around eight and a half points per game, adding, “It’ll be a heck of a challenge. I know our guys are fired up for the challenge going against them.”
Steichen further emphasized that playing against Watt will require strategic involvement from more than just the offensive line. “You’ve got to have a plan for him for sure,” he said. According to FOX Sports, Watt was ranked among the top 10 pass rushers heading into the 2024 season, accumulating 58 points in their rankings. His presence on the field has been a key factor in the Steelers’ 3-0 start this season.

Speaking to the media, Franklin made it clear that Pittsburgh’s fans will be entering unfamiliar territory this week. “I know the Pittsburgh fans, they travel well,” Franklin said. “But this is our house, and we make the rules.” He’s looking forward to defending Lucas Oil Stadium and believes that the Colts will be ready to fight back against the Steelers’ traveling fanbase.

The Steelers have packed opposing stadiums so far this season. And head coach Mike Tomlin and T.J. Watt thanked fans for their presence in Atlanta and Denver. However, Franklin asked them not to come, warning the Colts would destroy their 4-0 dreams, in Colts’ home stadium, especially considering the Colts’ 30-13 victory over the Steelers at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2023 December. It sets the stage for a fierce battle in Week 4.
