Myles Garrett is usually known for dropping quarterbacks in the NFL games. He did so too this year and recorded 14 sacks in four consecutive seasons. However, as the season ended for the Cleveland Browns with just three wins, Garrett, this time, decided to drop a bombshell related to his trade. But it seems Cleveland isn’t ready yet to make the move, especially with their dead cap hit and powerful defensive captain. So, what should they do? Colorado’s Warren Sapp has a clear message for the franchise.
On Wednesday, Rich Eisen brought up his segment to a much wider space. Well, you could easily sense the importance of the episode’s guest coming in for the program. Even Eisen introduced him by referring to his Super Bowl ring, which was won in 2003. Nevertheless, without much ado, Colorado’s Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was asked multiple questions about the league and his Colorado experience among many topics. But one question caught the Browns’s fans’ attention a bit more – What does Sapp think about Myles Garrett’s trade request?
With a serious face, Sapp delivered his stern message for the franchise. He stated, “Let the man out. Let the man out Cleveland. The man that did four years with those, the what is it, 12 and a half plus sacks or something like that, let him go. Let him go… he deserves to be in the playoffs. In the world, see his talent that young man can rush to pass.” Supporting his statements, even Eisen joined, exclaiming, “He is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year for a reason.”

So, according to Warren Sapp, Myles Garrett, now a six-time Pro Bowler, should search for the door to leave because he deserves to win. That’s what Garrett too wants. In his trade demand official letter, the DE clearly expressed that, since childhood, he wanted to win a Super Bowl. But witnessing such devastating seasons back-to-back from 2022, he is clear: “I have a lot of love for Cleveland, but it’s always for me, been about contending for championships, winning those big games and Lombardis, and we haven’t had the opportunity to do that, and that’s all I’m asking for.”
However, there is a problem. If the Browns trade Myles Garrett before June 1, they take a massive financial hit of $36.2 million in dead money and a $16.5 million cap charge. But what if they wait? Well, in this case, they would have to spread the damage: $14.8 million in 2025 and $21.5 million in 2026. Still, a huge issue! So, isn’t there any solution to it?
As per Pro Football, there’s a way out, but it’s tricky. If the Browns move Garrett before the fifth day of the league year, they would save $18.5 million in cap space. His option bonus is due then too, worth the same amount. If they act fast or get him to push the bonus back, they can trim $1 million off this year’s cap hit.
After all, every dollar matters in a decision this big. But the problem still won’t end for the franchise.
With Myles Garrett out, Denzel Ward might leave too
Yes! You heard it right.
Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward is hurt to hear Myles Garrett’s trade request. Although he is happy to find out the Browns might not let him go off, the fear still looms above, especially after Garrett’s special intention. Hence, Ward decided to release a statement that would probably give double headaches to GM Andrew Berry.

Myles Garrett’s teammate expressed, “(The trade request) has a huge impact, honestly. I want to play with Myles Garrett. He’s a Hall of Fame player. I came in the league, he was on the team and that’s my guy. So I’ve been talking to him and I know he said he wants out, but you’ve just got to hear where he’s coming from. He wants to win, so we’ll see what the near future holds.”

He even expressed his love for Cleveland, but Garrett’s exit could hurt him undoubtedly. After all, the two are great friends and talented players on the roster.
