On paper, the Chiefs look set at wide receiver. Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, Nikko Remigio, and even JuJu Smith-Schuster, who’s back in the fold. That’s a lineup many teams would envy. But dig a little deeper, and things get… thin. None of those guys cracked the 1,000-yard mark last season. And the duo the Chiefs were banking on—Worthy and Rice—combined for just barely over 900 yards. That’s not exactly Tyreek-and-Kelce territory.

Here’s where the Chiefs’ brass might be playing the long game. With Travis Kelce slowing down and Tyreek Hill rumors floating in the ether again (two first-rounders for the exchange of Cheetah? Really, Miami?), Kansas City isn’t ignoring the fact that their post-Hill WR room still hasn’t replaced his explosiveness—or his production. So, it makes perfect sense that Andy Reid and company have quietly put Colorado’s Will Sheppard on their radar.

Sheppard’s name isn’t grabbing headlines like Shedeur Sanders or Travis Hunter, but scouts who were actually paying attention at Colorado’s Pro Day? They saw something. At 6’4” with a 40.5-inch vertical and a nearly 11-foot broad jump, Sheppard looked every bit the NFL prototype. He may not have gaudy stats—48 receptions, 621 yards, 6 TDs—but in a stacked Buffs receiver room, he still carved out a go-to role. And when asked what he brings to the table, his response was as bold as his leap: “I can do it all. I’m big… Come and get me.”

That “come and get me” might’ve caught Andy Reid’s ear. Because the Chiefs did meet virtually with Sheppard recently, per NFL insider Aaron Wilson. It doesn’t scream urgency. But it does say this: if the Chiefs are looking for a physical red-zone threat who can develop quietly while the stars shine, Sheppard could be a sneaky Day 3 draft steal.

And don’t forget—Tyreek Hill didn’t become “Tyreek Hill” overnight. The Chiefs know how to mold raw speed and confidence into weaponized chaos. If Sheppard’s name gets called in April, it might be the start of Kansas City’s next deep-ball problem for opposing DBs. Sure, that’s not the need of the hour. But the draft need is being poached by the nosey Jerry, so what’s the play, Brett Veach?

Andy Reid will not like this Jonesy behavior

If you know anything about Andy Reid, it’s this—he’s a loyalist. A chessboard general who rarely makes moves unless he sees ten plays ahead. But what happens when Jerry Jones jumps in and flips the board?

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Chiefs outmaneuver Jerry Jones to secure Josh Simmons, or will Dallas steal the show?

Have an interesting take?

That’s exactly where things are headed in this year’s draft. Kansas City’s eyes are locked on Ohio State tackle Josh Simmons. He’s big, he’s banged up, but he moves like a guy Mahomes needs on his blindside. The Chiefs, per multiple reports, are eyeing a possible trade-up to get him. Problem is? Jerry might be eyeing the same piece.

According to Cowboys insiders Brandon Loree and Nick Harris, Simmons is firmly on Dallas’ radar. Not just in a general “we’ll see” way, but as an actual target in a trade-down scenario. And he’s not alone. Linebacker Carson Schwesinger, another Reid-Cowboys collision course name, has been getting serious love from the Dallas staff. “It’s potential,” Harris said. “Linebackers coach, Borganzi, worked him out at his pro day… Josh Simmons is another one that I think Cowboys like as much as you guys down the line.”

Translation? If Simmons is still sitting there when Dallas is on the clock, it shouldn’t surprise us to see them throw the red challenge flag on Kansas City’s plans. And Reid? He might just have to bite his tongue and look elsewhere for Mahomes’ long-term protector.

Here’s the kicker: Reid and Jones aren’t just two powerhouses—they represent two completely different team-building philosophies. One values continuity, the other craves splashy power moves. This isn’t just draft drama. This is personal. And if Jerry swoops in and snatches Simmons? Andy might have to find another piece to protect his king.
