Aaron Rodgers is continuing to practice with an aim to return but most likely for the next year. In his debut game with the New York Jets, A-Rod tore his Achilles and has been off the field since then. However, the quarterback has persistently tried to return, showcasing impressive recovery and throws during practice. But before returning, the QB has to follow a process set by the organization, as highlighted by three-time Super Bowl champ Mark Schlereth.

Coach Robert Saleh announced Wednesday that Rodgers is being activated from the injured reserve list, marking a new step in his rehabilitation. The team has until Wednesday to activate the four-time MVP, during which he can practice with the squad, or he could revert back to IR for the rest of the season, during which he cannot practice. So, is Rodgers’ comeback possible? Well, it’s not as easy as it seems. The former football guard Schlereth revealed why and clarified why he shouldn’t.

After Aaron Rodgers’ exit, the Jets had been experiencing a rough patch with no chances of playoffs left. Probably, that’s why the Jets and Rodgers himself want his comeback. However, in the eyes of Mark Schlereth, it’s not possible at all. In the latest episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Mark Schlereth weighed on Aaron Rodgers’ comeback debate, debunking the news of his potential return.

He started his remarks with an example: “I learned a very valuable lesson. I was working one summer construction, and I worked as a plumber’s apprentice; and I dug a trench, and the plumber told me I’m going to teach you everything you need to know about plumbing, and he said cr*p flows downhill make sure the trench is trenched properly, and that’s how an organization operates.” He continued, “If your ownership is bad, if they’re disconnected, if your ownership isn’t in charge, or they’re meddling, what it flows downhill, and your organization will never ever be any good.”

Schlereth believes that even a great quarterback cannot fix a team if the ownership is ineffective, emphasizing that a “quarterback can’t save a mess” that the Jets have been doing this season, first with its score, second with the injured QB. He also criticized the idea of Rodgers’ comeback, describing it as a farce, and suggested that if the Jets allow this, it would reflect poorly on their management.

There is a high chance that A-Rod won’t be coming back for the Commanders’ game, which he had earlier planned. Instead, he will return to play in his 40s from the next year.

Furthermore, the QB emphasized four processes he must undergo before his return, including 11-on-11 practice drills and conversations with the team. However, he clearly stated in the Pat McAfee show, “I thought that I’d probably be sitting on the couch somewhere at 40, but now I want to be a starter at 40. I want to be a starter at 41. I want to see what I can get out of this body.
