It is going to be a cold outing for the Miami Dolphins when they visit the Kansas City Chiefs for the wild card game. This blockbuster matchup has raised everyone’s excitement levels, but the temperatures are set to drop. But where does this cold evening rank for the Chiefs?

Tyreek Hill and Co. will be traveling to the cold regions of Missouri from the Sunshine State. They will be in for a rude awakening. As if the game hadn’t given enough chills to the viewers, now the players will be feeling the cold reality as well.

The Chiefs have a cold surprise in store

This week will be one of the coldest ones in the NFL. The Chiefs and the Dolphins might have the honor to perform in the coldest environment. With weather forecasts suggesting that the temperatures are set to drop to zero degrees. On top of that, it is expected the wind chill will be about -30 degrees.

The Dolphins unit has to prepare not only for the Chiefs’ offensive and defensive strategies. But also for the unprecedented cold weather, they are about to brace on Sunday. The Dolphins looking to secure a place in the divisional rounds will have to go through the chilly gauntlet.

But, it won’t be as easy for the Chiefs as well. This game is set to break previous records not only at Arrowhead but in the franchise history as well, for the coldest game. However, the Chiefs will have home adaptation and previous victory to find solace. Though, the players will be looking for inspiration from previous cold games as well.

The Arrowhead tends to cool things down

The Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers in 1967 played the coldest game in the history of the NFL. Temperatures fell to -13 degrees with a wind chill of -48 degrees. The Chiefs, though, have not faced such brutal weather, but they have seen the cold.

To date, the coldest game at the Arrowhead was a regular season matchup between the divisional rivals the Chiefs and the Denver Broncos. With 0.5 degrees temperature accompanied by -19-degree wind chill, back in 1983.

The record for the coldest playoff game is the 1996 game against the Indianapolis Colts. Temperatures were 0.5 degrees with a wind chill of -11 degrees. This upcoming game is set to break both these records for the Chiefs, easily.
