Is Zoe Mahomes the next sports star in the Mahomes family, or just enjoying the spotlight?

If you ask any Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs fan how they would complete their “Happiness is…” quote, they’ll probably say, “…watching Kansas City win back-to-back Super Bowls.” While Mahomes’ half-sister Zoe would have a similar answer on any other day, she didn’t on Sunday. After all, she had something else to be grateful for…

The 9-year-old, born to Pat Mahomes and Anika Cooper in 2015, is a soccer player and a basketball enthusiast. And after weeks of sharing her highlights on Instagram (handled by her mother), Zoe Mahomes is on vacation in Cozumel, Mexico. With Paradise Beach being one of their destinations, Cooper posted a video of Zoe basking in the sun while swaying on a swing. And with the backdrop of the clear, blue ocean – a sight for sore eyes after this past week – the beach did, indeed, look like paradise.

The video featured the text, “Happiness is…” and the thought continued in the caption. “….feeling the sun on her face after being within 140-160 feet of hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. Lots of tears and prayers, but we have a BIG GOD. So blessed!” Formed on October 5 in the western Caribbean Sea, Hurricane Milton quickly developed into the second-most intense Atlantic hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico.

Mexico was the first country to issue a warning about the storm (which intensified into a Category 5 hurricane, devastating Florida a couple of weeks after Hurricane Helene). It closed schools and non-essential services shops, and many workers were mobilized in case anything bad happened. As for Florida, the state declared a state of emergency, with residents ordered to evacuate. But when the storm hit and dissipated only on October 12, it took the lives of at least 27 people – 24 in the US and 3 in Mexico.

As for the NFL, teams like the Buccaneers had to change their schedules, too. Instead of practicing in the facility in Florida throughout the week for their Sunday game against the Saints, the team traveled to New Orleans on Tuesday. While this was happening, Zoe Mahomes and her mom were just a short distance away from the coast of Mexico. And after a week of devastation in the US, the Mahomes family sent their prayers to everyone in the aftermath of Milton and Helene.

Speaking of the Mahomes family, Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson, recently showed his support, too. Well, it was an endorsement of sorts more than support. Last week, Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift (who Zoe is a fan of), donated $5 million to support relief funds for both storms. When Wealth shared this news on Instagram, Jackson reposted it on his story.

Have an interesting take?

That said, Zoe Mahomes will be looking to enjoy the next few days after a tough week that saw Hurricane Milton cause destruction. Other than that…

Patrick Mahomes’ half-sister promotes local businesses

The 9-year-old soccer player trains at Cruz Coaching. Just before their trip to Mexico, Cooper posted a video of Zoe showing her customized shin guards with Zoe” on the right and Mahomes” on the left guard, which also had her photo printed on them. As interesting as that was, everyone was just as impressed by her mother’s message in the caption.

While she first thanked the company that made the shin guards, she also requested fans to support local businesses. “Support small local family business(es)!!! Reach out to them!! They are super cool with her pics on them, and Zoe had amazing protection during her game,” Cooper wrote. Amid conglomerates taking over businesses, the Chiefs Kingdom praised her for helping the regional companies.

That quality also resonates with Patrick Mahomes, who has purchased stakes in several local businesses. He has partnerships with food and beverage companies like Whataburger and fitness tracker Whoop. For now, the Chiefs quarterback is focused on winning on the field and is on the path to etching his name in the history books as one of the GOATs of the game. If the Chiefs win their third consecutive Lombardy Trophy, there’s no denying that Mahomes will solidify his name among football legends.
