Kevin Stefanski and the Cleveland Browns have made some of the worst decisions over the past few years. The biggest one was signing a fully guaranteed $230 million deal with Deshaun Watson. And even if we forget about the money for a second, we’re talking about a player who walked into Cleveland with 22 lawsuits hanging over his head. That deal wasn’t just risky, it was straight-up reckless. All they got on that massive investment was a suspension, constant injuries, and exactly zero returns on investment.

Three years later, the Watson era has been nothing but regret. Andrew Berry and the front office management messed up big time when they inked that contract. This year, with Watson’s future murkier than Lake Erie in November, the Browns finally tried to pivot. They met with Russell Wilson and flirted with the idea of a fresh start. And then watched the Giants swoop in and steal him.

And if that wasn’t enough, they’re now getting criticized for skipping a top prospect’s Pro Day. ESPN reporter Tony Grossi called out Kevin Stefanski’s team, especially GM Andrew Berry, for skipping Cam Ward‘s Pro Day. “It’s either the height of arrogance or the height of laziness or both. I mean, there is just no reason not to be there. You can’t say, well, they’re gonna take war,” he said.

The Miami Hurricanes‘ QB had his Pro Day performance on Monday this week. And with the Browns holding the second pick in this year’s draft, you’d think their GM, Andrew Berry, would be front and center. But no, Berry was nowhere to be seen. “This is what Andrew Berry has done for five previous drafts. He doesn’t go to Pro Days. And how great is his record with one Pro Bowl selection and 37 players drafted?” added Grossi, taking a jab at the team’s questionable draft strategy.

Now, Cleveland also lost their veteran QB option the day after Cam Ward’s Pro Day.

Berry and Stefanski missed out twice

It’s not just Cam Ward’s Pro day, but Kevin Stefanski missed it twice. Before Russell Wilson could reach New York, he landed in Cleveland for a meeting with the Browns. But he walked out of that building without any agreement. Then, on March 14, Wilson met with the Giants, and after that, he subtly started dropping low-key hints about joining the team. You could say that John Mara’s team had sealed the deal right there and then.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Browns' management just fumble their future by skipping Cam Ward's Pro Day?

Now, if you’ve made up your mind that you’re moving on from your current QB, the logical move would be to line up and lock in other options. But the Browns have been far from doing that. On Tuesday, the Giants announced their deal with Russell Wilson, signing the Super Bowl champion to a one-year contract worth $21 million. Earlier this week, they also added another veteran QB, Jameis Winston, to the roster.

They were also at Cam Ward’s Pro Day. And with the third pick in the draft, they might use it to snag another top QB prospect. That’s how teams are rolling this offseason, exploring every possible option. And this is what’s probably frustrating the Cleveland fanbase. Because all they’ve got right now is a shaky QB room and a fanbase running out of patience.

Tennessee has probably locked in Cam Ward. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the team was “incredibly impressed with Ward.” If that turns out to be true, Ward will be the No. 1 pick, landing with the Titans and leaving the Browns with no chance. They still have the second pick, and Shedeur Sanders is still on the board. But whether they land him or not will all come down to how they act from here on out.
