It’s clear. Nick Sirianni‘s message- “Let’s run this -h-t back, Kellen,” – didn’t work out to stop the offensive coordinator of the Eagles, Kellen Moore, from leaving Philadelphia. In fact, Saints’ new HC, Moore, has molded the Eagles story a bit. But, man, it’s heartbreaking for every Eagle to see Moore’s departure even after the Super Bowl win. It again highlighted one fact: this is business!
Well, after the OC’s departure, Nick Sirianni’s team is desperately looking for a new offensive coordinator. And according to the latest updates, it looks like they have got one.
One of the top ESPN reporters, Jeremy Fowler, was having a conversation with the ESPN crew. And when he was asked about the Eagles OC job, Fowler said, “I’m told that they’re going to probably line up interviews midweek Tuesday or Wednesday. They’re going to start getting that in order. So, watch for pass game coordinator, Kevin Patullo. He’s considered a strong candidate.” The senior writer also added, “Some people around the league believe that Patullo will eventually be the favorite for this job. Because he’s been a right-hand man to Nick Sirianni. He’s worn a lot of different hats inside that building over the last four years. So, they certainly could reward him.” Well, it’s not new that Patullo’s name has been talked about for the OC job.

On February 5, the Eagles headquarters were going through a whirlwind because Kellen Moore was attending multiple HC interviews. And that’s when Kevin Patullo’s name popped up. Talking about the OC job, Patullo, 43, said, “I’m looking forward to whatever happens… I’ve had opportunities over the last couple of years for potential coordinator jobs. And it just hasn’t kind of gone the way maybe I wanted it to or the way it was supposed to. But we’re here now, and wherever it goes, it’ll go.” Everyone thinks that he has been a favorite for the OC job and Patullo has been in the Eagles franchise since 2021.
After parting ways with the Indianapolis Colts in 2020, Patullo shook hands with Sirianni. And started working as a pass game coordinator. Then in 2023, he became associate head coach along with a pass game coordinator. But for those who know the Eagles organization very well, there is no clear differentiation between OC, HC, and Associate roles.
In Patullo’s words, “I’m basically half head coach and half offensive coordinator in that world.” He added, “I get to do both, which is very fortunate. You can see a lot of stuff as a coach that people don’t get to see if they are not the head coach. I’m basically involved in everything.” So, there are clear indications and signs that Nick Sirianni will pick up Kevin Patullo for the offensive coordinator job while not breaking the Rooney rule.
Though the OC position looks secure, do you know what the twist we were talking about in Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore’s case? The story is now swirling around another coach under Nick Sirianni.
Nick Sirianni may also lose another coach
After Kellen Moore’s departure from Philadelphia, the city of New Orleans is witnessing many Eagles coaches ready to give interviews for various openings. One such coach is Doug Nussmeier. Nussmeier, the Eagles quarterbacks coach, has recently completed interviews with Kellen Moore’s franchise. But as this update was about to settle down, insiders revealed that Kellen Moore is eyeing one more assistant of Nick Sirianni. And it’s none other than the running backs coach/ associate head coach- Jemal Singleton.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jemal Singleton interviewed for the Saints’ offensive coordinator opening under Moore. He has been in the Eagles organization since 2021. He exclusively looks into the running back position. And has worked with the Indianapolis Colts from 2016 to 2017. He worked with the Raiders in 2018 and the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019 to 2020 before landing in Philadelphia.

Singleton has closely worked with Saquon Barkley. When Barkley was asked about Singleton, he said, “There’s so much. The biggest thing for me that sticks out in my mind was a conversation that we had coming into the season. He kind of expressed how he views me as a player. And how I need to start viewing myself as that. And this year could be a year we can do something special. Basically challenged me to do that and let me know that he has my back. And we’ve been doing some special stuff this year.” And everyone knows how Barkley flourished under the Eagles’ coaching.
