Reid‘s thoughts about the reported $26 million trade? He refused to comment but he said just enough. When asked about the signing before Wednesday’s practice, Reid said that GM Brett Veach was “dealing with all of that.” What did Reid know about the deal? “I know nothing,” he said with a smile.

The NFL Network did report that Tennessee will take on some of Hopkins’ $8 million salary, which was essential for the Chiefs, considering the limited cap space they have left. A͏ five-time ͏Pro Bowl͏er, Hopkins will give͏ Magic M͏ahomes another target to throw ͏to. Mahom͏es previously stated ͏that he had “extreme confidence” i͏n͏ his receiving corps, but with ͏injuries mounti͏ng,͏ this addition couldn’t have come at a better time.

As mentioned earlier, while DeAndre Hopkins’ season may not have gone to plan so far, there’s no question that he’s excited to join the Kansas City ranks, especially owing to Patrick Mahomes. Back in 2023, right after the quarterback clinched his second Lombardi Trophy, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 after throwing for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns, Hopkins tweeted, “Patrick Mahomes is different 👀” 

Well, now the wide receiver will get firsthand experience as to what exactly makes Mahomes “different” from other players in the NFL. The 29-year-old’s prowess combined with DeAndre Hopkins‘ offensive abilities—943 catches, 12,528 receiving yards, and 76 touchdowns in 168 games—they could make for a formidable duo. And who knows? After appreciating Mahomes for his second Super Bowl victory, Hopkins might just help him and the Chiefs achieve a three-peat this season.
