Taking on the Jets in prime time, the Texans would have hoped for a better outcome from their clash in New York. Facing a team coming off their fifth consecutive loss, the Texans were supposed to make light work of the Jets. However, it ended up being an embarrassing night for Houston as their QB, CJ Stroud, recorded his worst game in the NFL.
Yes, the sophomore QB had a night to forget in MetLife, as he got sacked a whopping eight times on Thursday. Completing just 36% of his passes, Stroud neither recorded a TD nor an interception in New York. This got the Texans QB to open up on his biggest weakness that might have led to such an outcome, “One thing I can do is get the ball out faster. There are times where I am sitting back there and thinking too much.”

Well, last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year took a massive 11 QB hits while being pressurised on 46.7% of his dropbacks. And this wasn’t the only game that showed Stroud’s probable weakness. Over 9 games the Texans QB has played so far, he is almost on par with Browns QB Deshaun Watson for total sacks this season. Not a great company to have as Watson was sacked 33 times before getting his ACL torn in week 7.
And for Stroud, he has already seen himself getting sacked 30 times. So it would only be a matter of time before the Texans QB leapfrogged Watson, who was one of the worst QB in the NFL this season. Even the Texans’ head coach, DeMeco Ryans, spoke about improving their pass protection this week, “We can’t operate on time, and we got to get that fixed. Anytime you get sacked that many times. It’s not good enough. Don’t want a quarterback getting hit as many hits as he took. We got to adjust.”
Although CJ Stroud had an average throw time of 3.63 seconds against the Jets, it still wasn’t enough. As the pressure got to him on an average of 2.87 seconds last night. While the Texans need to sort out their O-line sitting at the top of their division. The Jets were finally able to snap their 5-game losing streak on Thursday.
Amid C.J. Stroud’s worst day, the Jets get a lifeline for their season

As dark clouds hover above the MetLife Stadium, Aaron Rodgers Jets finally have some breathing space. This win against the Texans may slowly bring them out of the darkness that the Jets camp has been dealing with for the past 5 weeks. Rodgers, who recorded his first three-TD game of the season, opened up about the importance of this win, “It was kind of season on the line there in the second half. Obviously, we wouldn’t have been mathematically eliminated. But mentally, to go to 2-7 would have been real, real tough. Hopefully, this gives us confidence so we can beat anybody because we feel we could.”
Well, it’s a win that the Jets could look back upon if they make it to the playoffs. However, it wasn’t all pretty, as Rodgers struggled in the first half. Although he finished with 22-of-32 passes for 211 yards and 3 TDs. The four-time NFL MVP only managed to record 7-of-14 passes for 32 yards. And it was the fewest he had ever recorded in his 20-year career, “I mean, I was terrible.”

But the Jets did manage to stage a strong second half. As they keep their hopes for the postseason alive. While Aaron Rodgers can look forward to their next clash, the Texans may have a problem to deal with. However, for both teams, the path to the playoffs remains open. If they can somehow sort out their gaps in the field, then it would be difficult to stop either of them.
