The Cincinnati Bengals were leading 10-7 in the game against the Baltimore Ravens, and then disaster struck! The Bengals’ star QB, Joe Burrow, suffered a wrist injury and had to skip the rest of the game. With their talisman gone, the Bengals lost their lead and the game in a 34-20 defeat. But it seems the bad news is still not over. The NFL is investigating a serious matter regarding the Burrow injury.

Burrow has already set the Bengals back by $275 million with his five-year extension. If the Bengals are found guilty of hiding his injury, that could invite more fiscal penalities.

Adam Schefter, an NFL insider, took to X to share that the NFL is investigating why the Bengals did not list Burrow on their injury report. This would’ve been no issue, but the Bengals had earlier posted a picture of him wearing a device on his wrist on Wednesday night. His performance on Thursday Night Football also seemed to be affected due to his wrist device, even before the official injury that caused him to leave the game. “It looked like he sprained his [right] wrist,” Taylor had said. “Fell on it early in the game and then felt it on the touchdown pass.”

Now if the NFL proves that the Bengals knew that Burrow already had an injury and still did not feature him on the injury report, the team could be fined or even potentially lose a draft pick. The investigation starts today. They will be looking at photos, practice videos, and speaking to people within the organization to decide if there was any wrongdoing.

Tom Pelissero, an NFL Insider, took to X to share a video from the broadcast of the game. In the video, Joe Burrow can be seen getting off the team bus with a brace/wrap around his right wrist and thumb. If losing him to an injury wasn’t bad enough, a fine would upset the Bengals even more. Only time will tell if the Bengals were up to any malice.

Burrow has thrown for 2,309 in the season so far and has 15 touchdowns under his belt. With him, the Bengals are 5-5. But they have tougher opponents coming up, who could upset the Bengals’ 0.500 record. A telling sign was the defeat handed to them by the Ravens. Things were looking good as long as the QB was on the field. They are up against the Pittsburgh Steelers which are 6-3 and are in second place in the AFC North division. Will the Bengals sail through without their star QB?
