Can Christian McCaffrey's return ignite a 49ers comeback, or is it too late for this season?

Niners Empire got one of its generals back. Christian McCaffrey was missing this year’s action because of his Achilles injury. When coach Shanahan placed him on injured reserve (IR) after the week 2 game against the Vikings, the Faithful were worried. When things were not getting under control, he even went to Germany and met an Achilles specialist. The visit has paid off.

The running back was seen in the Levi’s stadium before the week 7 game against Kansas City Chiefs. That’s good news for the Faithful. Though he is continuing physical therapy, his glimpse gives a hope of return that might help the 49ers turnaround the season.

Everyone was confident once the RB came back from Germany after a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection-like treatment. Initially, Christian McCaffrey was on IR till the week 6 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Niners haven’t removed him from the IR list yet. Though there isn’t much chance of him playing against the Chiefs, fans are rooting for him to feature in the week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Without him, the 49ers are struggling at a 3-3 win-loss record. In NFL West, they are at the top position. The Seahawks have the same points (6) in 6 games with a similar winning record. The Niners are trailing ahead based on points scored. They have scored 162 points compared to 146 scored by the Hawks. Hence, each game is necessary.

Christian McCaffrey’s wife posted a video on Instagram which showed him swimming. Her message was even more great that read, “Flipper boy is back.” Now that’s exciting. On the one hand, he is swimming and enjoying. On the other hand, he also visited Levi’s Stadium to meet with the players before the revenge game against the Chiefs.

Kyle Shanahan and other 49ers officials aren’t talking about it much. Maybe he will, in the post-game conference. With all the recent updates, a return in the week 9 game against Buccaneers on the 10th of November looks like an actual possibility. He would be eager to come back. And so are the fans.
