Sometimes, losing could be a reality check for what was supposed to be a perfect record. And the Chiefs Kingdom is going through one themselves as they fell to their first defeat at the hands of AFC rivals, the Bills, on Sunday. Although they would have preferred to stay unbeaten throughout the season, their defensive tackle, Chris Jones, believes otherwise.

Giving his thoughts on the Chiefs’ first loss this season, Jones expressed, “A little adversity. I think it builds character. Energy in the building has been great all week, uplifting. We know it was our loss. We’re going to get better from it there’s a lot we can learn from it.” But whom are we kidding if we say that the Chiefs’ loss was long overdue? Winning seven of their clashes by just a point, the Chiefs always left it late.

Even their week 10 victory over the Broncos couldn’t have come without the sheer brilliance of linebacker Leo Chenal. His field goal attempt block in the final seconds helped the Chiefs continue their unbeaten start. However, after their trip to Buffalo, which ended in 30-21, their 9-game winning streak is over. This even led to Patrick Mahomes expressing his disappointment with the end of their unbeaten record, “The undefeated thing was cool. But that’s not our ultimate goal.”

And similar to Jones’s comments on the Chiefs losing their unbeaten record. Mahomes want this defeat to act as a learning curve that exposes their lack of firepower this season, “I’m hoping that losing is a benefit. I’m not going to say I or we relaxed. But the same time. I feel like we were just coming away with these wins at the end of the game. Turning the football over on the first drive. It’s something you can’t do in big games like this.” Well, Mahomes didn’t only throw an interception at the beginning. He threw another at the end, thereby summing up their night in Buffalo.

Although Jones and Mahomes’ reaction seems pretty chill, considering the setback they suffered. Their teammate Travis Kelce was not ready to accept his team falling apart against the Bills.

Chris Jones vs. Travis Kelce: Whose approach will lead the Chiefs to bounce back stronger?

Have an interesting take?

Kelce had yet another outing to forget in the NFL on Sunday. Finishing his night with only 2 receptions for 8 yards, Kelce was having a nightmare in Buffalo. This might have led to the Chiefs TE going on a rant in his New Heights Podcast, “I don’t give a s— how your body feeling. I don’t a s— where your mentality is off the field. When you step into that building. We are here to figure s— out. We are here to get better as football players for the football team.”

While Kelce wants his teammates to step up instead of giving up at the closing stages. He wants the Chiefs to adopt a tougher mentality as a leader of this squad. “That is a mentality going forward that everybody has to be part of top-down, myself included. I have to be the leader. I’ve been in the past and hold myself accountable so everything sees how it’s done.”

Kelce, who recently matched Tony Gonzalez‘s TE record within the franchise, wants another shot to face the Bills. He hopes the two teams play again for the AFC playoffs, “I’m not saying that the Bills was just any other team. But I do believe we have better players, and if we get another shot at that team, I’d definitely get excited about it.” Right now, it does look like the Chiefs could face off against the Bills for their divisional title. However, it’s still a long way to go as the Chiefs continue to learn valuable lessons from their loss last week.
