Every time the Kansas City Chiefs hit the postseason, they go all out, and their halftime shows are no exception. This Saturday, at Arrowhead Stadium, get ready for a special performance from none other than Big Boi. (Yes, the legend who gave us hits like ‘Ms. Jackson’ and ‘Hey Ya!’). The Chiefs announced that Big Boi will take center stage during halftime, performing a 5-minute medley of his iconic tracks from the Drum Deck (because why not bring the stage to the crowd, right?). If you’ve ever tuned into Chiefs postseason games, you know they don’t skimp on entertainment. A few years ago, Lil Jon brought the energy, then Fat Joe, and Nelly, too. Now, Big Boi’s stepping up to continue the tradition of top-tier halftime talent. (And who knows, maybe we’ll get a little OutKast throwback while the Chiefs are dominating the gridiron). It’s going to be a moment.

There is always a side of celebrities we never know. The same goes for the ‘street-talkin’ rapper too. While Big Boi is known for bringing the heat on stage, his life off the stage tells a different story.

Big Boi (born Antwan André Patton) was married to Clark Atlanta University graduate Sherlita Patton for 20 years. The couple tied the knot in 2002, but their relationship wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. Their marriage had its highs and lows. In 2013, Sherlita decided to part ways with her husband, saying their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Big Boi and Patton were close to getting a divorce. Sherlita asked for full custody of their son, Cross, along with financial support. The rapper, though, demanded joint custody. Just when it seemed like things were done for good, the couple decided to give it another shot. Sadly, in 2022, they officially called it quits for good.

The couple shares two children: daughter Jordan and son Cross. Big Boi also has a son named Bamboo from a previous relationship. Cross is a football player, currently playing in college. He must be so excited to see his father performing at an NFL game. Big Boi’s other son, Bamboo, has graduated and is attending college in New York City. His daughter, Jordan has already ticked off college graduation from her checklist.

Big Boi, the Grammy-winning rapper, has done pretty well for himself. His net worth sits around $55 million, which is pretty impressive when you think about the career he’s built. You know, it’s not just about the solo stuff – he’s teamed up with some of the biggest names in hip-hop over the years. We’re talking ASAP Rocky, Ludacris, T.I., and Little Dragon. But it’s not all about the cash flow. Big Boi’s style? That’s where the magic lies. The rapper has carved out a niche in progressive rap, and his music often reflects that unique vibe. With an estimated salary of around $3 million per year, you know he’s still putting in work. But it’s not just the dollar signs that define Big Boi – it’s the legacy the rapper has built-in hip hip-hop music. Big Boi’s music was never just about catchy beats or partying. It was always a space for him to talk about the real stuff. The rapper wasn’t afraid to get deep, especially when it came to the issues he and the African American community were facing. Like, remember his track “War” from 2003? It’s not your typical rap song. Big Boi came hard with it, calling out the Bush administration and the whole War on Terror thing.

Anyway, Arrowhead Stadium is about to be on another level. First, an intense game between the Chiefs and Texans will have everyone on the edge of their seats, and then Big Boi will take over at halftime. The crowd will be going wild, and it’s going to be a night packed with energy and unforgettable moments.
