Lamar Jackson loves making deep throws, and to achieve that, sometimes he needs to find the right pocket or wait for receivers to get free. In the process, he becomes the target for rushers.

We could see it in the game against the Houston Texans, where he is looking for a receiver and is trying to extend the possession. As a result, he ends up getting sacked by Will Anderson Jr. and folds like a chair. Now the connection might be easier to make. Of all the QBs remaining in the postseason, Jackson was sacked the greatest number of times. To put it in context, Jackson was sacked 37 times, while his opponent Patrick Mahomes was sacked 27 times.

If we talk about the NFC side of things, Brock Purdy took 28 sacks, while Jared Goff got sacked 30 times so far. An article from USA Today quotes Andy Reid saying, “Lamar is special. He’s fast, one of the fastest guys on the field, when it’s all said and done. And he’s shifty.” While adding, “he throws it well, he throws it on the move well. We’ve just got to stay on top of that part of it.”

But there is one thing that the Chiefs might also want to consider. If Lamar Jackson doesn’t find an inside or outside pocket, he starts to use his legs and takes off for a first down or a TD. However, the safety Justin Reid has it all figured out and in case Jackson does decide to run, the safety has measures in place.

The Chiefs’ safety trying to shed light on the same said, “Try to contain him (Jackson) in the pocket as much as we can, make sure that we get him on the ground those times that he does run.”
