Andy Reid’s DT finally had two sacks since week 4 of this season. The defensive tackle didn’t look so happy after the game. There his girlfriend was, hanging out with Taylor Swift in the suite at GEHA, and the very next second, the camera jumped to Chris Jones, who looked dejected even after the Chiefs’ 19-17 win against the Las Vegas Raiders in the Black Friday game.

His frustrations are warranted, though. He couldn’t stop Aidan O’Connell from putting together back-to-back scoring drives, which led Andy Reid‘s Chiefs to blow a 16-3 lead and hand it to the Raiders. If it weren’t for Matthew Wright, the KC team’s sworn rivals would have handed them their second defeat of the season.

However, Jones did the presser duties after the game and to him, an underwhelming triumph is better than a frown upon his face. Though, as said before, he still wasn’t happy after the game. After all, this was his third sack in the last 10 games. He might be thinking of ways to justify his 5-year $158.75 million contract.

Anyways, after the game, Jones took the podium and said, “We’ll take an ugly win over a pretty loss.” The Raiders QB, AOC, had three sacks in the game and the credit for two of them goes to Jones, who looked quick on his feet as he went after the Raiders quarterback. Defensive end George Karlaftis also contributed with a sack of his own.

Is Chris Jones' performance living up to his massive contract, or is he falling short?

The DT joked about the close win at the end, saying, “We Keep It Close To Make Sure You Guys Are Watching At Home.” But Chiefs Kingdom might know the reality of the situation. The KC team became the first team to clinch a playoff berth this early (11-1) and Patrick Mahomes threw his 238 TD pass of the season, passing HOFer Len Dawson in doing so. Speaking of Mahomes, there are some important matters to discuss.

Andy Reid doesn’t like risking Patrick Mahomes

It’s not news by now that the back-to-back Super Bowl winner was sacked 5 times in a game. Wanya Morris is to blame for that one and we’re not the ones putting him on the chopping block. It was Andy Reid and O-Line coach Andy Heck’s decision to do so because he failed to protect Patrick Mahomes.

After the game, Big Red took subtle jabs at the O-Line for not doing their jobs well. “It’s disruptive to any offense if the quarterback is getting hit and not able to get the ball off. And so, that can be a problem. Now listen, he’s playing against a couple of good players, but you’ve got to do better than what we did there,” Andy Reid said post-game.

The head coach had to improvise so Reid moved Joe Thuney to cover for Wanya Morris and subbed Mike Caliendo to play guard. Well, desperate times call for desperate measures. This is the second “ugly win” that the Chiefs have faced since the last win against the Panthers, which also kept the Chiefs Kingdom on their toes, and not in a good way.

Now that the Kansas team has made it to the playoffs, we can’t help but wonder what will happen to them when they meet the Buffalo Bills. Yeah, people will argue that Josh Allen always wins in the regular season, but this time, Mahomes’s magic has faded and he’s going to lose one of these days. Let’s not underestimate the guy who put a chink in his armor.
