The Chiefs were fresh off winning the Super Bowl in 2023. They had beaten the Eagles to claim the crown, but the score of 38-35 screamed of a weak defensive line. Head Coach Andy Reid found a solution, bringing in DL Charles Omenihu. But was this move effective?

The start was a struggle for both. He violated the league’s personal conduct policy and was suspended for 6 games. In the remaining 11 games, he started only one, with 7 sacks and 28 tackles (18 solo). Moreover, in the AFC championship game against the Ravens, he tore his ACL. It took him almost the entire year to recover.

Finally, on November 28, 2024, he got a break. The Chiefs activated him from the injury list. But this year was a dream-crusher for Patrick Mahomes & Co., with the reeling defeat against the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. This has forced the Chiefs to reconsider their choice.

Omenihu had signed a 2-year $16 million contract with $10.6 million guaranteed. He’ll hit the free agency next week, but the recent developments suggest they are having a hard bargain. However, it is unknown if they’ve had negotiations but are far apart on terms or if the Chiefs don’t have any interest in bringing him back. On March 6, he replied to a tweet, “But I’m done. See yall Monday I finally get to experience FA the right way. This time much love from NINEO! 🅿️❤️” When everyone started noticing it, he deleted the tweet.

This isn’t the first time that Patrick Mahomes’s teammate has dropped a message hinting at the back-and-forth negotiations. A few days back, he tweeted, “Know your worth.” As expected, everyone started making a fuss about it. So, he followed it up with another message. Or let’s call it a clarification.

He posted, “Please don’t read into what I say on this app during this time period. Don’t need yall making assumptions.” Though Charles Omenihu did clear his part, the Chiefdom is taking it as a sign of his departure. That would be a massive dent in their defensive power. Many teams could try to poach the DL. It includes the Raiders as well, who need a solid player.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Charles Omenihu's time with the Chiefs a bust, or can he still prove his worth?

HC Andy Reid is already trying to sort out his lineup. For now, the fans are more concerned about the quarterback’s revenge tour.

Patrick Mahomes reveals the new look for Revenge Tour

For the past many seasons, the Chiefs Kingdom saw the Grim Reaper in his mohawks. The long hair waved through the air as he decimated his rivals. But this year was a loss on many fronts. His grandfather passed away, and he lost the chance at a historical 3-peat. He wants to change the mindset and get back on the winning track.

Even Omenihu confirmed this and said, “On a revenge tour. Extreme focus. Taking even more control of the organization.” He wants to overcome the blot of their worst SB loss. If you don’t remember, the Eagles didn’t allow them to score in the first 43 minutes of the game, cruising ahead by 34-0. There’s another surprise.

Patrick Mahomes is going on a revenge tour in a new look. He has gotten rid of the signature mohawks. And getting a new ‘short hair’ look in the era of redemption. Some fans might need a few seconds to recognize him. But wait! Is there any other reason?

The QB said to his trainer Bobby Stroupe in the 2023 Netflix series Quarterback, “This is my last year with the hair… I almost did it this year, but Head & Shoulders would have been mad.” So, that’s it. Some people also believe that hair carries emotional energy. So, is this the way he wants to overcome the loss? That’s fine.
