The Kansas City Chiefs concluded their regular season with a loss to the Denver Broncos. Andy Reid rested a major chunk of their first-string side for the game, with some players carrying injuries. The win allowed the Broncos to make their first post-season appearance since going all the way in the 2015 season. At the same time, it did little damage to the Chiefs who had already secured the first seed.
Now the first-week bye that comes as the reward is helping them get back to their best. One superstar has fired a warning shot that indicates they’ll settle for nothing less than a 3-peat.
Charles Omenihu is ready to rumble
In just four words that would have sent shivers down the spine of fellow playoff contenders, Chiefs Defensive end Charles Omenihu has thrown down the gauntlet. His post on X was simple and straight to the point: “Check my track record.”

Check my track record. Playoff time.— Charles Omenihu (@charless_94) January 10, 2025
Omenihu, who suffered from a torn ACL injury last Jan, is slowly finding his feet after a lengthy layoff. He returned to GW12 on Nov 30 and registered five straight wins before that loss to the Broncos. Despite the scoreline reading 38-0, he had a decent showing, registering a solo tackle. In total, he has registered 6 tackles, 4 of which were solo in 6 games played. He certainly appears confident he’s hitting his strides at the right time.
After all, he does have that aforementioned track record to lean on. Despite missing the playoffs because of that ACL injury, he registered 28 tackles in 11 games in his first season with the Chiefs, helping them go back-to-back. He is also fondly remembered by 49ers fans from his previous stint in Santa Clara.
But with a path to New Orleans potentially running through the likes of Josh Allen or the Lamar/Henry double punch, he can’t do it alone. And the good news for the Chiefs is that he won’t be.
Andy Reid has four words of his own

The biggest concern for Chiefs fans the past few weeks has mostly been their team’s health. More than their opponents, the biggest threat to their prospects in their minds were the injuries to Chris Jones (calf), Jawaan Taylor (knee), and Isiah Pacheco (ribs), joined recently by Chamarri Conner.
However, Head Coach Andy Reid had some fabulo-ruski news for them. Following their first practice of the playoff bye week, he gave some updates on key injured players. Chief among them was that CB Jaylen Watson was “moving around” well. Asked about the ones mentioned above, he confirmed that they all practiced before concluding with, “They’re all doing well.”
A healthy Kansas City will be a formidable opponent, possibly favorites to win Super Bowl LIX. Consider this: they are one of only three teams to score 30 or fewer points in every single game this season. Yet they’re cruising through a bye week with a 15-2 record, while the other two – the Patriots and the Raiders – draw up plans for next year. This is a team that has ground out result after result on crunch defense. With the coach’s positive injury update and rallying call from Charles Omenihu, fans will now be hunkering for that 3-peat.
