After a terrible season, it appears that the Jaguars are looking for a big change for the position of GM. It has been open for quite some time, and officially, there are people going in for an interview to get it. The team does not want to take the risk of giving the position away, so they have sorted their way of selection. And it appears that one of the candidates has received special appreciation from Chiefs‘ star Charles Omenihu. But who is this candidate?
Trent Baalke the former Jaguars’ general manager, was sacked on January 22, 2025. Since then, many known people wanted the position but the team has decided to conduct an interview round to determine their future GM. And out of hundreds of candidates, sources claimed that Josh Williams was the first candidate to be interviewed on February 11th. For those who do not know, Williams is the 49ers‘ Director of Scouting and Football Operations. This was huge news and even Charles Omenihu reacted to this news stating, “Great dude for sure.”

Josh Williams has always been someone who works behind the scenes and deals with talent. Perhaps during that time, he would have met the Chiefs’ defensive end and had a terrific conversation. Omenihu’s words clearly suggest that Williams could be the ideal candidate for this post. As a general manager, you have to think in a variety of ways, and Josh might be the game-changer guy the Jaguars need.
Aside from him, prominent figures such as Bears associate general manager Ian Cunningham are also candidates for the position. More precisely, according to recent reports by Albert Breer, Cunningham is the leading candidate. His report read, “Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham will interview for the Jaguars general manager job on Friday, per sources. Cunningham is a strong candidate, and has been since Liam Coen’s hiring, to land the job.”
While these are simply reports, no one knows whether Josh Williams can turn this thing around with his interview. While Charles Omenihu believes in Williams, only time will tell us the results. Speaking of the Chiefs’ defensive end, he has also been trending recently. But not for a good reason.
After the Chiefs’ stunning loss at the Super Bowl, Charles Omenihu couldn’t control his emotions
Super Bowl LIX was a nightmare for the Chiefs. The Eagles smashed the team, taking a comfortable lead from start to finish. The team and their fans would rather forget that day because they were one win away from being immortal in the NFL. While there were several discussions regarding that day, one was when Charles Omenihu lost his composure.
What’s your perspective on:
Could Josh Williams be the game-changer the Jaguars desperately need to turn their fortunes around?
Have an interesting take?
Omenihu was seen crying on the sidelines during the fourth quarter. Another defensive player and the Chiefs’ coaching staff attempted to console him. However, the man clearly lost control of his emotions, which was rather understandable.

While the Chiefs did not win the Big Game, Omenihu did play an important role for the team this year. In the nine games he played this year, including three postseason ones, he had a total of 15 tackles, 10 of which were solo and 5 of which were assists. He also had two crucial sacks one of which was in the playoffs. The DE’s performance also had an impact on the AFC Championship game against the Texans, where he was incredible.

Charles Omenihu signed with the Chiefs in 2023 when he got a two-year-long contract. This contract was worth $16 Million which is truly incredible. The man won the Super Bowl in his first year only with the team but it seems like for his next Super Bowl he would need to wait. He has entered the free agent market but who knows the Chiefs will sign him again. Until then, stay tuned for more information.
