The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to give their fans a special gift on Christmas. The Las Vegas Raiders and the Chiefs are long-standing rivals, and the Chiefs have won six straight games against them. Fans will be at the edge to see if the Raiders will snap this streak on Christmas. Although they won in their last game against the New England Patriots, they were just one game away from a three-game losing streak, which hasn’t yet happened with Patrick Mahomes at the helm. However, a win on Christmas at their home stadium, along with the setting of a new record, is sure to get fans smiling again.

What’s the record? If the Chiefs win against them, they will become the team with the second-most number of divisional title wins after the Pats. They are right now tied with the Los Angeles Rams for the record they set 44 years ago.

Adam Schefter, a senior NFL insider, took to Instagram to share a picture of best chums Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. However, the caption drew everyone’s attention. If the Chiefs win the Christmas Day showdown, they will have secured an AFC West playoff berth for the eighth consecutive year. The Rams had set the record for the most division titles at seven from 1973 to ’79. With their 2022 win, the Chiefs were tied for the record, but now they have a chance at getting ahead.

However, the Chiefs will still be behind one team that leads the entire league in the number of consecutive divisional titles—the New England Patriots. In the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era, they had set the NFL record at 11 from 2009 to ’19. They need three more divisional titles to match the Pats’ record. Under Mahomes, they have won 40 of the 46 games against their divisional opponents. Can the Monday Night Football game be the 41st?

Can the Chiefs win against the Raiders on Sunday?

There has been conversation around how the Chiefs’ offense is far from what it used to be last year. After Week 7, they recorded more than 30 points once, which was against Las Vegas. In the previous four games against the Raiders, Mahomes has recorded 13 touchdown passes and currently leads the league in total yardage.

Another major factor that will determine the course of the game is the Chiefs’ wideouts. Rashee Rice has seen his participation increase in the last four games and scored a touchdown in two straight games. Kadarius Toney has been ruled out for the game, but with his costly mistakes in the previous two games, the team will not miss him too much. Travis Kelce will also be looking to record at least 76 receiving yards, making it his eighth consecutive season with at least 1,000 yards.
