As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to take on the formidable Baltimore Ravens, TE Travis Kelce was in front of the press. And the 2X Super Bowl winner did not shy away from talking about the Chiefs’ ace QB Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs will be competing in the AFC Championship fixture for the sixth time in a row. And Kelce wants to win this one badly. But even he knows that it’ll be impossible to do so without the impeccable performance of Mahomes.
Travis Kelce and the team are dependent on Mahomes

“I think it just elevates”, said Kelce on Mahomes’ performance and approach in the postseasons, including this one. “He’s done what I’ve tried to do year in, year out and I haven’t been as successful as he has”, confessed Kelce with a smile on his face.
With Kelce and Mahomes primed to take on the tough challenge of M&T Bank Stadium. The home of the Ravens, where almost all QBs and teams have lost their fighting spirits. Kelce’s tone suggests that will not be the case with Mahomes and the Chiefs.

But Kelce also talked about the lessons that can be learned from Mahomes. “Answer the bell, answer the challenges that are presented to you, and get excited about that”, said Kelce are the teachings that the entire squad can imbibe from Mahomes. And the Chiefs will have to be at their best, to come out successful in this fixture.
Battle for the crown of AFC
Even though the Chiefs lead the series against the Ravens 7-5, that history isn’t tilted toward them. With their last matchup played in the regular season of 2021, it was the Ravens who came out on top winning 36-35. And in their short history, both teams have previously met only once in the playoffs.

In 2011, the Chiefs and the Ravens took in each other in the wild-card game. The Ravens eliminated the Chiefs by winning 30-7. For the second-ever meeting in the playoffs, they will fight for the AFC Championship.
