Many are fans of Patrick Mahomes and his playing style, especially during critical last drives. There are numerous instances, like last year’s Super Bowl, where Mahomes turned the game around in the final minutes as well as in overtime. But here’s the catch! Not everyone views Mahomes as a great player, particularly in the final quarter.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs currently sit at No. 1 in the AFC West division. They’ve secured 10 wins so far with just 1 loss – a devastating one for them. Despite this, many still regard the Chiefs as one of the top Super Bowl contenders this year. Moreover, many believe that even if Mahomes hasn’t been at his best this season, he’s still capable of leading the team to victory. But if you ask Carolina Panthers’s linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, he might have a different answer to Mahomes’s playing style.
Yes! Jadeveon Clowney made a surprising claim on Monday. MLFootball wrote on X, “#Panthers 3x Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney says #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is a ‘FLOPPER.’” He even said that “Mahomes does a lot of flopping on the sideline.” Ouch! That’s indeed an absurd and harsh claim by the 31-year-old for the 3x Super Bowl champ.

Well, there’s no doubt about this. Patrick Mahomes has made some strong comebacks after injury. For instance, this year, when the Chiefs’s quarterback was playing against the Buccaneers, it appeared that he sustained an ankle injury. However, he made a return to the field, leading the Chiefs to victory. This wasn’t the first time. He suffered injuries several times, especially during the second half. But out of nowhere, he returns to the field.
That’s the reason once Eagles’ defensive end Brandon Graham recalled about the Super Bowl, “When the first half came [to an end], we were in there and I was more thinking like, ‘What’s his name (Mahomes) went in there on the sideline and he’s looking like he’s hurt. We’ve got to get to him, we’ve got to get to him. He came out, you can tell how tough he is, man, but that boy acted good. He sure put that face up [like he was hurt].”
Nevertheless, despite all these claims, his fans think it’s not the truth! And that’s the reason when Jadeveon Clowney claimed that about Patrick Mahomes, the calls mounted against him.
Patrick Mahomes’s fans gave Jadeveon Clowney a new name?
Jadeveon Clowney called Patrick Mahomes a “flopper.” The Chiefs’ QB consistently pretends to get hurt to draw penalties from the refs. This is what Clowney believes. However, this claim didn’t sit well with the 29-year-old’s fans. Hence, one fan said, “Says the career bust that Clowney is!” Well, the comment delivers a hard hit to the 2014 NFL-drafted player.
The Panthers’s LB Clowney was the No. 1 overall pick by the Texans in 2014. However, he turned out to be arguably a “bust,” as he couldn’t meet the expectations, despite his high demand. That’s the reason why another Patrick Mahomes fan chimed in, hitting the athlete’s career directly: “Flop? That’s Clowney’s career.” Clowney himself didn’t play much because of his injuries in his career. If we just look at his sack record, he has made only 2.5 this season in his 9 games.

According to many, the player used to be a great defensive end, but now things have changed. That’s the reason why many fans slammed him online by saying, “Why is a bust talking about flopping?” or “And Clowney a bust.” Even one made a sarcastic comment on Clowney’s statement by saying, “Massive draft bust said what?”
It’s clear fans aren’t in the mood to take anything against Patrick Mahomes, especially the flopping scene, as coming back from real injuries is the QB’s art!
