The Kansas City Chiefs’ recent injury reports have shocked fans with new names on the ruled-out list. Until recently, Jerick “Jet” McKinnon, one of the Chiefs’ best running backs, was included in the list owing to an injury. However, with hours left to the ultimate showdown for the season, the 31-year-old has rather exciting news to share.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had previously hinted that Jet McKinnon would sit out Super Bowl LVIII. But the running back has announced today that the decision has been reversed.
The running back makes a glorious return

Jet McKinnon’s presence on the grounds of Allegiant Stadium on Sunday was uncertain for an entire week. “Jerick is not practicing. I’d tell you it’s slim for him to be out there,” Reid remarked last week. However, the 31-year-old was back on the active roster on Saturday afternoon, announcing he wasn’t here to back down. “BREAKING NEWS: they tried to kill him but the boy prevails,” McKinnon wrote as he took to Instagram to share the news.

This would mark Jet McKinnon’s first return to the field since mid-December. The veteran had suffered a groin injury in early January following a torn ACL in his right knee in September. Though the Kansas City Chiefs have led the offense well in McKinnon’s absence, his excellence, backed by experience, would undoubtedly provide an edge in the backfield against the 49ers on the much-awaited stage.

Jet McKinnon for the Chiefs
Last year, as the Chiefs went against the Philadelphia Eagles to clinch their victory, Jet McKinnon remained on the crucial end the whole time. He had recorded four carries for 34 yards and one catch for 15 yards in the showdown. Through the regular season, he had secured 10 touchdowns and led the NFL in receiving touchdowns. However, the 2023 season offered little for the running back, an excellence nonetheless.

In the few games he played this year, McKinnon had 60 rushing yards and 192 receiving yards. Furthermore, reports state that the running back would prove necessary in the passing game, where he has secured 25 catches and five touchdowns this season. Though speculations run around about Jet McKinnon’s active role for the Chiefs on Sunday, he can nonetheless offer a reliable veteran presence as All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney goes on injured reserve due to pectoral muscle.
