The Kansas City Chiefs have been dealt a piece of shocking news, ahead of the Super Bowl LVIII. Rookie WR Rashee Rice injured his ankle in the practice session. Will the youngster be able to step on the field for the massive game?
Rice was drafted by the Chiefs at the 2023 NFL Draft in the second round. And the 23-year-old has been an integral part of the Chiefs squad. The Chiefs are already facing issues at the wide receiving positions. Will Rice be present or will his absence end up in disaster for the team?

During the practice, Rice got stepped on an hour into the practice. Soon, the Chiefs’ officials tended to his injury, and was then removed from the session. In the end, he walked back onto the field but with a noticeable limp.
The WR has taken 20 catches for 223 yards in the playoffs. And head coach Andy Reid would want him starting the big game. “He’s all right”, said Reid to the media after the practice ended. But Rice isn’t the only player who might not start in the Super Bowl because of an injury.

Just like Rice, left guard Joe Thuney has also been monumental to the Chiefs’ success in the regular season. However, the 31-year-old missed the bulk of the playoffs because of a pectoral injury he suffered against the Buffalo Bills.
The Chiefs did manage to fill Thuney’s void in the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. However, Rice has proven himself to be irreplaceable, especially such close to the Super Bowl.
