Harrison Butker backs Trump—will this divide the Chiefs' fanbase or strengthen their support?

Harrison Butker was all over the news after the week 2 game against the Bengals. He scored the field goal, which sealed the game in the Chiefs‘ favor. He is once again in the headlines. But for a different reason. The election season is gripping the NFL world now. Butker has openly come out declaring his political stance. It happened when the kicker appeared at Senator Josh Hawley’s Missouri rally and addressed the crowd as well.

Butker talked to Fox News with Hawley. When he was asked if he supported Donald Trump as well, he smiled and replied, “Well, I’m supporting the president that’s going to be the most pro-life president and I think Donald Trump’s topic that is the most crucial topic for me.” A devout Christian, the NFL player holds the conservative values dear.

Trump has been very vocal against abortion. He publicly opposed Roe v. Wade and has always taken pride in himself for the case being overturned in 2022. However, not everyone is happy. Many pro-abortion activists criticize Trump for not understanding the viewpoint of others. However, a section of society likes him for being pro-choice. Harrison Butker is one of those people.

He attended the rally to support his friend (Hawley) and talked about the importance of traditional values. While praising the people (and values) who made America the greater superpower, he said. “We need to preserve so many of the traditional values of this country that seem to get washed away.

With this endorsement, the debate for the next president gets more fiery. Will the Chiefdom accept this? He doesn’t care about that.

The kicker has often criticized the left (& more modern) ideologies. While speaking at Benedictine College, he bashed the pride month as a deadly sin. Things became heated when he said that a woman’s achievements at home hold more importance than any business achievements. There were many NFL players who didn’t agree with it.

Jason and Travis Kelce talked about his views on the New Heights podcast and disagreed with Harrison Butker’s views. But both of them agreed on one thing. They claimed that the kicker treated his family, friends, and the people he met with respect. Kelce brothers also said that he has the freedom to express his views.

MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes also shared a similar sentiment about the kicker. He also disagreed with Butker’s views, but did mention that he was a great teammate. And that’s right. No one should force a person to follow any ideology.

By endorsing Trump, Harrison Butker has opened the gates. Will other Chiefs players join him and declare their stance? Stay tuned! We’ll keep bringing more stories.
