The 2024 regular season wrapped up for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. And it ended with the second shutout of the season. Although key players such as Patrick Mahomes weren’t playing, the 0-38 loss against the Broncos felt odd for a team like the Chiefs. Nevertheless, Mahomes’s backup had a casual take on the loss.
Yes, you heard it right! According to Conference Managing Editor, Charles Goldman on X, Carson Wentz said on a post-game presser: “Obviously not good enough (for the loss). . . Fun to get out there and get a chance to compete, but they were the better team today.” Despite not making a single score, Wentz had fun in the game.
And guess what? He received a huge amount for the week 18 matchup. According to Spotrac, The #Chiefs paid QB Carson Wentz $3.3M to take one for the team in Week 18. The Chiefs’s decision to pay Wentz could be related to strategic rest for key players, including Mahomes.

However, Wentz also said he missed some throws, admitting, “I’ve got to be better.” Nevertheless, the Chiefs are already into the playoffs. And this Broncos game was also not an important event for them, which might not be remembered by the Chiefs kingdom. It’s because the only thing to remember about that evening was Carson Wentz’s outfit.
Wentz was given $3.3 million for the last game, and he made sure to put it into his look for the day. Rolling up to Empower Field at Mile High, Carson Wentz opted for a plaid three-piece suit, with a flat-brimmed fedora, brown pants, and a leather backpack. His outfit also created a buzz among social media users, hoping that the Chiefs might finish the season in style under him. But that didn’t happen!
Nevertheless, as the Chiefs move forward, Wentz has something else in mind.
Carson Wentz shifted the focus towards the playoffs?
Recording 10 out of 17 attempts for just 98 yards, Carson Wentz ended the game without any touchdown. Nevertheless, after playing his last season with the Chiefs (as per contract until the new structure), Wentz accepted he had fun in a tough game. However, he mentioned that the Chiefs have something else in mind at the moment. Revealing that, Wentz stated, “Today, obviously was not great, but we know it’s ahead of us as a team. Pat, everybody, all the starters, they know what’s ahead of us and where we’re trying to go and what we’re capable of doing. So our mindset is on that.”

But that doesn’t mean Wentz is not seeing reality. He is, and that’s why Patrick Mahomes‘s backup QB said, “Obviously, not good enough. We didn’t play great as a team. I didn’t play my best, either.” However, Wentz admitted that he will “move on from this one pretty quick.” But moving on will not hide what happened on Sunday. That’s why coach Andy Reid, who rested his main players due to meaningless games and injuries, said, “A positive for us we got to play a lot of young guys. That experience is invaluable, especially against a good football team. We need to do better.”
Reid is pretty sure that Carson Wentz and all the young players need to level up their game if they are the future of the Chiefs.
