The Chiefs are getting in the zone. Looks like they viewed enough tapes from the Bills games to know the problems they could face in the game. While Andy Reid is trying to find the winning mantra, his coaches are also working day and night to prepare the players for the AFC Championship game. They are going back to the week 11 game which they lost.
Chiefs special team coordinator, Dave Toub, talked about Bills receiver Khalil Shakir and CB/return specialist Brandon Codrington. Toub warned Patrick Mahomes and his teammates about the WR and said, “Both of them are dangerous. They’re really good in the return game, don’t make a lot of mistakes penalty-wise on special teams. They don’t beat themselves. Well-coached.” Andy Reid’s coach is right there.

In 17 games this year, Codrington has recorded 27 returns for 313 yards on punts, while 11 returns for 311 yards on kickoffs. So, he’s someone the Chiefs need to be wary of. But their O-line is equally capable of turning the game around.
In 15 games (9 starters) in 2024, Khalil Shakir had 76 receptions for 821 yards and 4 touchdowns. But his unique ability to evade tackles can put the AFC top seed in trouble. As Toub correctly pointed out, he’s 3rd among the receivers in the league after the catch, with 597 yards. So, that is the second thing the back-to-back Super Bowl winners need to be careful about.
However, Andy Reid has a winning mentality. He’s trying to warn them about all the dangers beforehand. And also hinting at the strategies.

Everyone in the Chiefdom knows Josh Allen is the real danger. He is a dual-threat quarterback who can turn the game whenever he wants. Andy Reid gave a stern message to his defense for the QB, saying, “He’s tough to get down. You got to stay disciplined and stay in your lanes and then you go from there. But once you have a hold of him, you better know he’s tough to bring down, so you better finish it.” They definitely need to be spot-on with Allen.
Andy Reid pointed out that the Bills have kept their pocket protection top-notch. With 6 interceptions and 14 sacks in the regular season this year, they ensured their signal caller was free to make the pass and the run. But the Chiefs’ defense has also put pressure on their rivals.

During the divisional matchup against the Texans, they sacked the QB CJ Stroud 8 times for 58 yards. That’s going to be their strategy once again in the AFC Championship game. But both teams will give everything they have to win the matchup. The Arrowhead will light up as the game day approaches. It will be intense for the fans. They have been waiting for this day for months.
