The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t just tweaking their roster this offseason—they’re loading up for another Super Bowl run. Andy Reid and Co. are making sure Patrick Mahomes has everything he needs to dominate in 2025. How? Well, they’ve already locked in Hollywood Brown, adding more speed to the mix. And just when you thought things couldn’t get any crazier in their WR room, the Chiefs went ahead and pulled off another shocker.
On Tuesday, KC re-signed another member of their offense from the last year. Any guesses? Well, let’s cut to the chase. The Chiefs re-signed their wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who had a notable season with the team in the 2024 season. Yeah, you read that right. The team took to their official ‘X’ handle and broke the news, writing, “More good JuJu 🙌. We have re-signed @TeamJuJu!”

The 28-year-old wideout inked a one-year deal with the Chiefs last year just weeks before the season kicked off. And that’s when things got real interesting for JuJu. See, he came in for his second stint in KC, expecting to add some depth to Mahomes’ arsenal, but with Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice sidelined, plans changed fast. Suddenly, JuJu had to step up big time—alongside rookie Xavier Worthy—to keep the Chiefs’ offense rolling.
In his week 5 against the Saints, the guy amassed the most receiving yards in his career (since 2020-21 playoffs). He caught 7 passes for 130 yards and even notched up 1 touchdown. Juju wrapped up his 2024 season after starting 8 games, catching 18 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Fast forward and the 28-year-old WR is set to enter his second season with the Chiefs. Though his contract terms are not finalized yet, but it is expected the Chiefs have signed him on a one-year deal.
If you’re thinking that the Chiefs are busy while bolstering their WR Corp only—give yourselves another try. A few hours before re-signing Smith-Schuster, Andy Reid and Co. added a backup for Patrick Mahomes. On Monday, the Chiefs officially signed Gardner Minshew on a one-year deal. The 22-year-old QB is coming to KC after having a poor performance with the Raiders in 2024.
Minshew wrapped up his last season with a track record of 2-9 while throwing for 2,103 yards and racking up 9 TD passes—and now set to replace signal-caller Carson Wentz as the Chiefs’ QB2. Well, the Chiefs’ O-line seems terrific. But what about their defense? Ooh, that’s the tricky part.
What’s your perspective on:
With JuJu back, are the Chiefs setting the stage for another Super Bowl run in 2025?

Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs neglecting the defensive talent?
The cornerbacks are making a wave in the NFL—not for the Chiefs, though. It sounds pretty wild, but that’s the truth. We’re talking about the Chiefs’ CB, Trent McDuffie. Ever since the Chiefs drafted him back in 2022 NFL draft, the guy has been a cornerstone of the team’s defense. Back-to-back All-Pro nods, numbers that do all the talking, and a contract that… well, let’s just say it doesn’t quite match the impact. Oh, did I hit a nerve?
But let’s be real—McDuffie is about to enter the final year of his rookie contract and there’s no buzz around a contract extension. To pour gasoline on the fire, his fifth-year option for 2026 is only $13.6 million. Yeah, that stings. Well, that’s a good thing for the general manager Brett Veach, considering their tough salary cap situation. But is it really fair to McDuffie? I don’t think so.

See, on Monday, the Houston Texans signed their star CB Derek Stingley Jr, on a $90 million extension. The best part? With $89 million guaranteed income, Stingley becomes the highest-paid CB in the league. And he isn’t the only CB in the market to get a lucrative deal.

Because on the other side, the Carolina Panthers hit the nail on the head and signed Jaycee Horn on a four-year contract extension worth $100 million, including $70 million guaranteed. Considering these two gigantic contract extensions, the CB market is now making waves in the NFL. The Chiefs’ Kingdom is already demanding a contract extension from Andy Reid and Co. for McDuffie. Will the Chiefs fulfill their demand? Guess we’ve to wait a bit more on that decision.
