Can Mahomes ever match Brady's Super Bowl count, or is it an impossible feat?

Charles Barkley may be ‘0 for 3’ when it comes to betting against the Chiefs by the end of Super Bowl LVIII, but he is yet to get convinced about all that QB Patrick Mahomes brings to the gridiron—a Vegas-bound, gambling-inspired jargon of a word ‘underdogs’—the Kansas City Chiefs. The former NBA star, who clearly cherishes Brady as a better ‘greatest of all time’ than Michael Jordan (let alone ‘Showtime’) was, in return, notoriously dubbed a ‘three-time loser’ by his colleague Shaquille O’Neal. But moving on.

Barkley joined Kelce brothers among others in the American Century Championship on Thursday at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Lake Tahoe. Although it was a joyous occasion for him earning points for a full round in the modified-Stableford scoring format for the first time in tournament history, he was asked an off-topic question: “What’s it gonna take for Mahomes to surpass Tom Brady?

Barkley responded without any hesitation, “Probably, two or three more Super Bowls!” But wait, there’s more.

In another interview with NFL Total Access when asked of his reaction to Mahomes’ then-rumored ‘half a billion’ worth contract post his 2020 Lombardi lift, Chuck replied, “I was planning to get out of retirement, see if I have a couple snaps left in me.

Patrick Mahomes could not make it to the Celebrity Golf Tournament this year, unlike last year when the leader of the red and white pantheon finished P62, 19 positions ahead of Chuck. This year, however, walking into the off-season as a Super-bowl winning husband with his wife Brittany and the kids for a month-long Europe vacation, Mahomes returned to the Heart of America just three days before the event’s opening day with one exception. Brimming with good news to share, the star couple now awaits the birth of their child and announced on Friday: “Round three, here we come.

While Mahomes is having a third child, he is also planning for a 3-peat this season. And if recent happenings are to be believed, the former NBA forward might be prepping to lose some more bets.

Barkley ‘waiting’ for his win

What’s your perspective on:

Can Mahomes ever match Brady's Super Bowl count, or is it an impossible feat?

Have an interesting take?

Last season, Chuck decided to snub the Chiefs by betting against the then-Super Bowl contenders. The forward started by betting for the 2023 divisional playoff game vs Buffalo Bills where the Chiefs emerged victorious at 27-24. But that one loss was not enough for the NBA star, as he trusted the Ravens to win the 2023 AFC Divisional Championship. After grasping a solid 17-10 win against Ravens, the KC team shifted gears to prep for the Super Bowl vs 49ers. The NBA forward still didn’t give up and bet against the red-and-white team once again, and he lost the bet for a third time as Mahomes and Co bagged a Lombardi.

However, accepting his failure, Barkley exposed himself on the NBA on TNT podcast. “Number one, you Travis and Chris Jones, Chris Jones, I love you, Andy Reid. Congratulations. Yeah, I bet against you at Buffalo, I bet against you at Baltimore. And I bet against you in the Super Bowl. I was zero for three. I got to wait until next year; congratulations, brother.” Well, Patrick took to X to tease the NBA star, asking him a question. “Watching @NBAonTNT and trying to see if my man Charles is going to pick against the chiefs again in the next round! 😂😂😂@AdamLefkoe

Even though Barkley didn’t respond to the cheeky take, Chiefs’ WR Chris Jones hopped on to give a couple side eye emojis to the NBA Star and his anti-Chiefs stance during the 2023 season.

Talking of wins, when the team won the AFC Championship, Pat McAfee posted a direct question to his guest, Tom Brady. Although he didn’t respond to the whole NFL GOAT status, the former Pats’ QB hinted that Mahomes cannot be like him. Per Brady nothing Mahomes accomplishes can diminish what he achieved in his own career, just as nothing he did can take away from the Chiefs’ QB’s efforts.
