The Los Angeles Chargers are coming out with a different energy this year. Some of it might be because of the former Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh, who marked his return to the NFL after a decade. But Harbaugh wasn’t just on an NFL coaching recluse, he also completely isolated himself from social media as well.
The last time, Jim Harbaugh “tweeted” in the good old days of Twitter was back in 2020. But his team, the Los Angeles Chargers has forced him to come out of that recluse. The coach took to X and shared a heartfelt message ahead of his long overdue return to the NFL.
His post on X said, “Excited to watch our guys compete this year ⚡️⚡️⚡️.” The post shows Harbaugh in a huddle with his troops and it felt like the group was having an emotional moment. The other picture is a classic group photo of all the 53 Bolts that made it to the roster.

His last tweet goes back to 2020 when he was coaching U of M. Harbaugh was very vocal about COVID prevention and applauded the University of Michigan and their efforts to keep the COVID cases down. The coach was very active on Twitter before the pandemic hit, though. Again, just like Harbaugh returned to social media after 4 years, he’s marking his return to the NFL as a head coach after 10 years.
The last time he coached in the NFL, he took the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl heights. He battled against his brother, John Harbaugh, who had been leading the Baltimore Ravens. Jim Harbaugh went 44-19-1 in his four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Now that he’s joined the league again, he’s been getting all the respect he deserves from his underlings.

Have an interesting take?
Derwin James Jr., the Bolts’ safety didn’t hold back while praising his new head coach. In fact, he thinks that “He’d [Harbaugh] really d-e on the football field and be happy. As crazy as that sounds, he’s that much in it.” Perhaps, that sentiment is visible in the photos that Harbaugh uploaded recently. All the players holding their hands up in solidarity speak volumes about his impact on the team.
The Chargers’ safety later added, “It’s been amazing having him, and I’m pretty sure the more he coaches us, the more I’m going to learn and experience. I absolutely meant everything I said about that message.” While Harbaugh has established a reputation as a coach who brings good vibes to the locker room, there are a few things to consider as the matchup with the Raiders nears. One of those things is Justin Herbert’s health.
Justin Herbert’s injury will keep Jim Harbaugh awake at night
Jim Harbaugh’s post came hours before the Los Angeles Chargers began their 2024 season journey with a match against their sworn divisional rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders. Apart from the rivalry that dates back to 1960, another thing that both teams have in common is that they’re heading into the season with new head coaches. The Chargers with Harbaugh and the Raiders with Antonio Pierce.

Another thing to keep an eye on is Justin Herbert’s return to the field after he broke his finger in week 14 against the Broncos. While he was recovering from this setback, he suffered from Plantar Fasciitis in his right foot and was prescribed a walking boot for two weeks. The incident that happened during the training camp was a minor setback and Herbert has already recovered.
Herbert believes that “I didn’t feel comfortable, I wouldn’t be out there,” after mentioning “But it’s feeling much better though, so I appreciate that.” The Chargers QB played 13 games last season and put up 3,134 yards and 20 touchdowns. At the same time, it’s salient to note that the Bolts finished their last season with a 5-12 record and are hoping to turn it around this year.

While the Chargers have welcomed their Pro Bowl QB back to the roster, they will be going against one of the top 10 defenses in the league. Another thing to watch out for here is Gardner Minshew, who is taking the reins of the Raiders as a journeyman quarterback. Minshew led the Colts to a winning 9-8 season last year and he simply can’t be overlooked.
Both Jim Harbaugh and Antonio Pierce bring good vibes to the locker room. Only time will tell whether the good vibes will translate to winning games this season.
