Home/NFL

Jason Kelce made all of us cry with his emotional retirement speech on March 4, 2024. On March 5, the Ex-Eagles Center began retirement by jumping into a fire, literally. The trial by fire was Jason Kelce’s promise to his fans: his retirement will be as captivating as his decorated career spanning 13 years in the NFL. The older Kelce brother delivered on that promise.

From challenging big soap to handing out friendship bracelets at Taylor Swift’s concerts, he continues to win over fans with his adorable antics. His amusing frolics aside, Jason Kelce has also penned lucrative deals and made profitable investments in retirement. In May, Jason Kelce signed a $1.8 million per year contract with ESPN to be an analyst. So it is not surprising that he offered up his latest investment, Garage Beer, as a sponsor for the Philadelphia 76ers‘ home.

Wells Fargo stadium, the home of Philadelphia’s NBA and NHL teams, is an iconic local landmark that has hosted prime sports events since its inception in 1996. However, Wells Fargo, a more than $200 billion worth banking and finance giant, recently released a statement stating the company will not renew its naming rights deal with Comcast Spectacor, the stadium owner. Jason Kelce reacted to the news on X, saying, “Sad to see Wells Fargo go…” However, the ‘Batman’ of the NFL swooped in to save the day. The 7-time Pro Bowler further wrote, “…heading to the Garage to catch a Sixers or Flyers game would be pretty fuc*ing cool.” Kelce also shared a picture of the stadium building, with ‘Garage Beer’ photoshopped onto the front, hinting at his plans.

Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce became the largest investors in Garage Beer, a brand manufacturing light lagers. In a statement, the Super Bowl champion disclosed the reason for investing in Garage Beer, saying, “We are light beer drinkers and Garage is the best light beer. For me, the brand fits my lifestyle…” Now, it seems the retired center is ready to take it to the next level, adding a stadium to his roster along with a beer brand, to create the perfect football haven. Jason Kelce’s offer could potentially settle the dilemma faced by the Sixers and the Flyers, and pave the way for a profitable partnership.

Jason Kelce and Garage Beer: A perfect solution?

Potentially, the 76ers have already decided to leave the stadium at the end of their contract in 2031. The NBA franchise revealed plans to build a new stadium in Philadelphia’s swanky downtown Chinatown. David J. Adelman, a partner in Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, owners of the Sixers, seems determined to make the project happen, claiming he has no “Plan B”. However, the $1.55 billion project called ’76 Place’ has not come without challenges. Even though 76 Place is expected to be located in a part of Center City that could use development, the project is opposed by the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation.

As for the 76ers’ current home, the stadium has changed its identity like a chameleon changes its colors. Inaugurated as CoreStates Center, the stadium’s name was changed three times and once again faces uncertainty as Wells Fargo’s contract expires in 2025. Jason Kelce and Garage Beer could be the perfect saving grace, providing stability to a historic building that has hosted events such as All-Star Games and WrestleMania.
