But the night was not over for Kelce. He himself broke an NFL record. Many people had begun to doubt his ability to play. Endless commentators had said that he was on the decline. However, he proved them all wrong tonight.
Patrick Mahomes overtakes Peyton Manning

NFL legend was #5 on the leaderboard. The metric? Number of touchdowns in playoff games. His number was 40. Then Patrick Mahomes comes along and breaks his record. He now has 44 playoff touchdowns to his name. And he will not sit at number 5. He’s tied for the position with Brett Favre.

Just one more touchdown and he will jump to number 4. However, he will once again be tied with Aaron Rodgers and Joe Montana. Guess who’s right at the top? NFL GOAT Tom Brady. And can you shoot a wild guess as to his number? A whopping 88! Which is double that of Mahomes’ current number.
That seems like a far shot for Mahomes for now. However, can he overtake Brett Favre? And even though Mahomes is no. 5, his BFF Kelce is already numero uno.
Travis Kelce breaks Jerry Rice’s NFL record
In a historic moment, Kelce etched his name in the record books! Kelce’s seventh catch of the day propelled him past the legendary Jerry Rice. And he broke the Hall of Famer’s record for the most playoff receptions at 152. Why is it so remarkable? Jerry Rice is widely hailed as the greatest wideout of all time. Surpassing him is no easy feat.

The record-tying moment came with a six-yard catch in the second quarter. The Travis outdid himself. He caught an eight-yard reception just a couple of plays later. The TE caught 3 passes from Patrick Mahomes on KC’s opening possession itself. The highlight of the game was a 19-yard touchdown reception. And that set the stage for the Chiefs to take an early lead.

Kelce has just strengthened his case for being considered the greatest TE of all time. His impressive season, marked by 93 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns, earned him a well-deserved ninth-straight Pro Bowl selection.
