While Carson Steele was off filling Isaiah Pacheco’s spot in tonight’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, his family was cheering for him. But what’s so special about the Steele family cheering for their own? Isn’t it normal? Well, it’s not as much about them cheering for the RB than it’s about the circumstances his family was in.

You see, Carson Steele’s sister, Kessler, was getting married tonight and her running back brother couldn’t attend the wedding. But Carson Steele doesn’t have a FOMO from the wedding. On the contrary, he was happy to get a starting job for the Kansas City Chiefs in the game against Atlanta and coming out with a 22-17 win.

The Peacock crew got hold of him after the game and asked Steele where he’d rather be. The answer? Well, while a wedding sounds like a fun idea, Carson would rather be with the boys, running angry towards the Falcons defense. From what we heard from Carson, he was just happy that the Chiefs gave him a starter job.

“Man,” Carson Steele said and started laughing hysterically. “I hate to say it, but I’ll be here every day of the week. Every day of the week. But, love you Kessler, hope it went well, but I’m picking this every day of the week.” As the Kansas City Chiefs running back admitted his preferred absence from the wedding, a video of his family members and wedding guests watching the game on a huge screen played in the background.

It isn’t every day when you see a football themed wedding. Steele admitted that the day was well thought out in advance because his family thought that the RB “was going to stay in UCLA for one more year.” Safe to say that wasn’t the case and Carson Steele got two dubs in one day!

He played a pivotal role in the Chiefs’ success tonight. Let’s run through what it was like for him to get his first start for the back-to-back Super Bowl winners.

Carson Steele had the best game of his NFL career!

Yes, he’s a rookie, we know. But just imagine being asked to take such a huge responsibility and cover for the Chiefs’ star running back, Isaiah Pacheco. Those shoes are big to fill, but Steele did the job quite phenomenally as he carried the ball 17 times over 72 yards. This story is “surreal” because Steele went from being a UDFA to a huddle with Patrick Mahomes.

His response? “It’s a surreal moment. You watch these guys on TV, you know, I don’t want to make him [Mahomes] feel old, but I’ve been watching him for a pretty long time so…. At the end of the day, you come out here, put the shoulder pad on, pants same way. So, I kind of had to take that mentality and go with it from there,” Steele admitted to the Peacock crew.

What was his experience as a starter like? For Steele, NFL is “real fast” and “big dudes” are just a few steps away from knocking him down. Thankfully, he had a chance to train with Chris Jones and learn the ropes. The onus to win will be on Carson Steele for at least 8 weeks till Isaiah Pacheco is out because of a broke fibula he sustained in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
