The Detroit Lions host some popular staff names, for whom various NFL teams are going crazy. The Lions finished their best regular season in 30 years, clinching the NFC North title after 1993 when it was known as the NFC Central. Furthermore, the franchise is back in the playoffs first time since 2016. However, with the emerging success, it seems like they will now have to face potential challenges concerning securing their staff members going forward as well.
The Lions’ OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn are in full demand, as they have been approached by multiple teams for their coaching jobs. On the same, last month, the famous rapper Eminem pleaded with Johnson not to leave his favorite team(Lions) by sharing a tweet for him. But it seems like Johnson reportedly might defy his request and move forward with a new franchise.

According to the reports, the Lions coordinators have been requested to sit for an interview for head coaching positions from 3 teams. The Panthers, Chargers, and Commanders requested an interview with Ben Johnson for their head coaching roles, while the Chargers and Commanders have also asked Aaron Glenn to interview with them for the same position.
Meanwhile, the #Chargers requested interviews with Ben Johnson and #Lions DC Aaron Glenn for their head coaching job, per sources.
That’s three for Johnson and two for Glenn, who both were requested in Washington as well. Hot candidates. https://t.co/wtIoL0QkcE

Furthermore, reports have emerged that they might have a virtual call after the Wildcard round and an in-person interview after the divisional. Last month Carolina fired coach Frank Reich, the Chargers fired coach Brandon Staley, and a day ago, the Commanders also fired their head coach Ron Rivera. And now it seems, neither the Commanders nor the other two teams want to wait a long time to secure experienced choices, as they all seem to be trying to contact the two popular coordinators immediately.
But curiosity comes into play, as to why aren’t they interviewing them now and waiting for the wildcard round or divisional round to be over. Here’s the answer to it.

The NFL teams aren’t allowed to conduct face-to-face interviews with coaches from other teams until after the divisional round of the playoffs. They are allowed to have a virtual interview during this time. However, they are required to wait until a team participating in the wildcard round of the playoffs has finished their game before having a virtual meeting with coaches from that team.
The Lions, whose coordinators are in demand, are playing against the Rams on Sunday in their wildcard round. Then only after the game, the coach-hunting teams will be able to connect with coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.
