Only a month from now, the NFL draft will kick off in Green Bay. Soon, we will find out who the No.1 pick will be—if it wasn’t clear already. Like there hasn’t been a single day since last season ended where the Hurricanes’ QB Cam Ward wasn’t predicted to go No.1. I mean, there’s Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, and Abdul Carter. But Ward seems to have that aura around himself. You know that feeling of it’s only a matter of time I get what I deserve. Yep, that’s the feeling Ward might be going through right now. At least after his cousin’s comments about him, the chances of Ward not getting picked by the Titans are almost impossible now.

After Miami’s Pro day on Monday, former safety of the Titans, Quandre Diggs, had some strong words for his cousin. “Competitive prick. You know what I mean. He’s one of the guys that you would love to go to war with. Everything you can think up in a QB he does that, so I’m just proud to see his growth and seeing him continue be the man he is becoming,” Diggs shared. Well, Diggs is absolutely bang-on about his feelings on Ward. Like after what he did in Miami’s Pro Day, he has only solidified his status as the potential No.1 pick.

More than 90 NFL team staffers were present to see the Heisman Trophy finalist on his Pro Day. Among them was the whole contingent of the Titans holding the No.1 pick. Having watched him in film, this was probably the first team the Titans saw him in person. So, there was this one moment where Ward made sure the Titans noticed him. After completing a throw to TE Elijah Arroyo while dangling to his left, Ward was captured murmuring something to the Titans’ front office.

Later in the afternoon, he revealed what he said to the Titans GM Mike Borgonzi and President of Football Operations Chad Brinker. “I told them I’m solidifying it today. They finally got to see me throw in person. That should be all they need to see. But at the end of the day…I’m going to be happy whatever team I go to. I’m just trying to play football,” Ward shared with confidence brimming in his words. He is coming into the NFL after leaving a lasting legacy in college.

Remember his final game against the Iowa State Cyclones in the Pop-Tarts Bowl last season? Yep, where Ward played only the 1st half and threw 3 TDs. Well, those 3 red zone scores meant he now sits as the all-time FCS and FBS combined leader in passing TDs (158). Insane, right? That’s a former zero-star recruit for you once at the high school level. Now sits at the top of the NFL draft with the potential to be an instant star under NFL lights.

So, watching Cam up close in Miami’s Pro day, what did the Titans’ head coach Brian Callahan had to say about him?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Cam Ward the next big thing in the NFL, or just another overhyped draft pick?

Have an interesting take?

Can Brian Callahan and Cam Ward be a match made in heaven?

Considering the Titans’ lack of activity in addressing their QB room, which only has Will Levis and Brandon Allen, it’s only a matter of time before Ward joins in. Just listen to what Callahan had to say about Cam: “His tape is excellent. He’s a really good player. Here, it just kind of confirms it. You get to see the ball come off his hands, and you get to see his footwork, see his body, see how the ball travels. Those are all things you like to see in person.”

Translation: Callahan was simply blown away, seeing his probable future QB throw daggers after daggers.

And it’s not like Callahan was the only one who praised Ward. Miami’s QB also expressed his true feelings about the opportunity to play under him. “I think Coach Callahan’s one of the best head coaches out there. The things he did with Joe Burrow when he first got into the league made him be real successful.” See, Burrow spent 4 seasons under Callahan as the Bengals’ OC. And in each of his two full seasons, Burrow had over 4,000 passing yards and more than 30 TDs.

With Callahan as his OC, Burrow even led the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI, which they unfortunately lost to the Rams. So, seeing the impact Callahan had on Burrow’s career early in his NFL tenure. It’s not at all surprising that Ward is expecting the same. Who knows, maybe Callahan’s magic will work again—this time on the Hurricanes’ QB. And if it does, then the 31 NFL franchises should probably start taking the Titans seriously again.
