“If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.” Imagine starting off the upcoming potential stint with the NFL with these lines. Cam Ward does know who he is! But all he wants to do is make everyone aware of his dominance even before the draft. That’s the reason this quarterback didn’t hold back when speaking about the teams that might pass on him. But let us remind you, all that he said will be proved in the league. However, whatever he is confident about, the NFL has started seeing it.
According to NFL Rookie Watch on X, “Cam Ward’s release speed is something ELSE.” This is also evident in Darrell Colbert’s statement. To the people who are unaware, Colbert is the trainer of Ward and Shedeur Sanders. So, it’s obvious for him to see both the quarterbacks’s throwing speed. And his winner is clearly Ward, as he believes “Ward has the “fastest release” in FOOTBALL.”

The post shared by the account also included a video of Cam Ward throwing football in a practice camp. It further added interesting facts about the QB, mentioning, “Several NFL scouts are reportedly “mesmerized” by how unorthodox, yet elite Ward’s playstyle as a QB is.” For instance, an anonymous NFC scout tried to describe him by saying, “He’s Ben Roethlisberger, but he’s not. He’s Caleb Williams, but he’s not. His play style is so different from anything I’ve ever evaluated.” As per the post, “Ward is currently the favorite to be the 1st overall pick in the draft.”

Ben Roethlisberger, who played with the Steelers for 18 seasons, is considered a legend of the franchise. His arm talent, as well as his toughness, made him a legendary player in the league. And now, Cam Ward being compared to Roethlisberger is indeed an interesting thing to watch for. It’s because not only does an anonymous scout believe so, but analyst Trevor Sikkema also finds this similarity.
During a recent appearance in a podcast, Sikkema expressed, “I think Ben Roethlisberger is a great play style comp. Now Ben was bigger, right… but I think both of these guys are somewhat similar in the overall arm talent they have, despite Cam Ward being a little bit smaller… And when things are breaking down that improvisation. Big Ben was one of the best of a decade plus, 15 years of doing that at the NFL level, in a way where when you look at Cam Ward’s ceiling. That’s the type of quarterback and the mentality that I see with him.”
However, performing outside in practice or in college football and playing in the NFL are different things. This is what Cam Newton believes after Ward’s strong statement, “At this time, yes, next year nobody will give a f-.” He made it clear that words don’t mean much when the real work begins. And to date, only one person has done so by making “a statement like that and cashed in – Peyton Manning told the Indianapolis Colts if you don’t draft me, it’ll be over for you straight up.” So, although Cam Ward will be under heavy scrutiny in his potential first starting season, it’s not doubtful that the man is talented. On one side, he will be trying his luck with the first team. On the other hand, his batchmate, Sheduer Sanders, will be taking up the competition in a different way.
Cam Ward’s batchmate Shedeur Sanders makes his decision clear!
Like Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders is also a potential No. 1 overall draft pick of the year. However, on one hand, Ward is coming up with a strong message to the teams who are thinking of skipping him. On the other hand, Sanders is also dropping a major statement ahead of the NFL combine.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “#Colorado QB and potential top pick Shedeur Sanders plans to focus on his interviews with teams at the NFL Scouting Combine, helping them continue to learn him as a person. He’ll allow his four years of film to speak loudly, then throw at his Pro Day with four draftable CU WRs.” This means Deion Sanders’s son reportedly won’t be working out at the NFL scouting combine. He won’t be throwing this week at Indianapolis, where the Combine is scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 2.
Well, it’s not strange to see players skipping workouts at the combine, as the trend is already going. Hence, Sanders’s absence will be the latest one on the list. But it’s likely that Cam Ward will be showing off his arm talent at the Combine. The upcoming event is gonna be interesting for sure!
