The 49ers season so far? Let’s just say it’s been one wild ride. Sitting at a 4-4 start, they’ve shown flashes of brilliance, but the losses are exposing some tough-to-ignore cracks. Injuries are the main culprit, with Christian McCaffrey’s Achilles taking a serious hit. I mean, that’s your top-tier (potentially best-in-the-league) running back, out of commission. Big loss, right? And yet, CMC has still managed to make an appearance online, dressing up for Halloween with his wife Olivia Culpo.
On TikTok, Christian McCaffrey’s lighthearted videos may entertain, but 49ers fans, “The Faithful,” aren’t amused. With the season in full swing, they’re in game mode. Seeing McCaffrey prioritize dress-up over rehab progress doesn’t sit well. The fan reaction is swift and vocal. For them, it’s about focus – they want CMC fully invested in recovery, not costumes.

Meanwhile, McCaffrey’s been working hard to return. Say what you want, but know that he also wants to hit the gridiron. But the bilateral Achilles tendinitis is not an easy opponent to face (it has kept him out of all eight games this season). However, with the Niners on a bye, General Manager John Lynch is hopeful, hinting that McCaffrey’s practice window might open soon. If all goes well, he could even suit up against the Bucs.
And if he can get even half of what he got last season—1,459 rushing yards and caught 67 passes for 564 yards—the Niners could be away from the dumps, that’s for sure. CMC’s impact is undeniable. But what do the fans really want? A fully healthy McCaffrey tearing up the field.
Guess, for now, the only CMC they are getting is the one playing Halloween dress-up with Olivia. And guess what? The netizens really let their emotions known.

If you’ve seen The Wizard of Oz, then you probably caught the Dorothy and Tin Man reference in Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo’s Halloween costume video. And if you didn’t, well, now you know. But when fans first saw CMC dressed as Tin Man, reactions were… let’s just say, mixed. “When the female makes the decisions… 😭” one fan commented. It was a classic case of “What did we just watch?”
And while the costume was one thing, it was McCaffrey’s appearance that really got people talking. The guy looked like he’d just seen a ghost! “CMC looks like he’s being held hostage. 💀” another fan joked. Now, could he have been going for a straight-faced, Tin Man vibe? Sure, but his expression had a few fans wondering if he was silently asking for help.
Maybe it was all part of the act, right? But his body language had fans buzzing. McCaffrey stood there stiff as a board, moving slowly, with a look that screamed, “Get me out of here.” One fan didn’t hold back, adding, “Are you in danger, CMC? Blink once for yes, twice for no.” If Olivia took the creative reins on this one, fans were clearly ready to call it an interception. She seemed to be the charge as the couple uploaded the clip on her account.

Then, there was CMC’s almost lifeless vibe, which gave one fan the perfect line: “CMC does not want to be there.” Another went dramatic, saying, “My guy CMC dramatized.” Fans aren’t used to seeing their favorite RB looking like he’s waiting for the play clock to run down, so it was all just a little off.
Christian McCaffrey’s Halloween antics leave us wondering: was he genuinely in need of help or channeling the world’s most dedicated Tin Man? Perhaps the New Heights Podcast will shed light on this mystery. One thing is certain, though: CMC is making his way back. Unconventional as his approach may be, the league should take note: the clock is ticking, and the CMC comeback season is nearing. We’ll be watching. Will you join us?
