Tired of commentators glazing Patrick Mahomes? Well, it’s not just the 3x Super Bowl winner that is the media darling. Apparently, Brock Purdy is also a media favorite. How can he not be? Mr. Irrelevant took his team to the Super Bowl after all. But how much flattery is too much? The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks game brought on some egregious moments, and the fans were not afraid to call Kirk Herbstreit out.
Brock Purdy made a bold statement and started the game with a bang. With about 13:40 remaining in the first quarter, Purdy threw a 76-yard pass to Deebo Samuel while he was already being tailed by a defender. However, the 49ers receiver had another defender incoming and it looked like Samuel caught the ball just in the nick of time because Purdy could have easily been intercepted.
But people calling him out for his comments on Brock Purdy was short lived. He was talking about the best teams in the NFC and failed to include Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings in the mix and the fans weren’t having it. Some even implored him to stick to calling college football games.

“If I ask you who the best team in NFC is, like not right now, but you look at the roster, you look at their potential, I still think San Francisco, especially if they get Christian McCaffrey back, who else besides them? You can bring up Dallas, you can bring up Green Bay and Tampa here…” Herbstreit said without mentioning the 5-0 Vikings.
Hence, the fans think that he’s not up to date with the latest developments in the NFL. To that end, they buried him following his comments on Brock Purdy.
Fans grill Kirk Herbstreit for his horrendous play calling
A fan was fed up of Herbstreit calling the game and wrote on X, “@NFL I want players mic’d up. I want the announcers muted when I want, especially @KirkHerbstreitI pay for prime so let me hear the cursing and yelling and trash talk” Another player called him out for excessively praising Purdy for his pass placement.
What’s your perspective on:
Are commentators too quick to crown average QBs as elite? What's your take on Purdy's performance?
Have an interesting take?
@KirkHerbstreit fanboying over average ass qb’s again. That was a horrible throw by Purdy that should’ve been picked off. Thank goodness for Deebo. What is it with you and these average Qb’s ?

“Kirk Herbstreit talking about his Purdy placed the ball perfectly to where the safety couldn’t get it.” He thinks a better DB would have been able to pick the 49ers QB off. “I honestly don’t see it that way. I think it was just a horrible play by the safety, Julian Love lol. A better safety would have been able to make a play on the ball.”
Another fan penned down his discontent with QBs pass and the supposed bad game calling. “@KirkHerbstreit fanboying over average a-s qb’s again. That was a horrible throw by Purdy that should’ve been picked off. Thank goodness for Deebo. What is it with you and these average Qb’s ?”

Another fan was fuming at the commentator not bringing out Vikings or the Lions in best NFC teams’ conversation. “D—ass @KirkHerbstreit not going to mention the only undefeated team in the NFC and the team that beat San Fran? #moron.” Some other people penned down their emotions and Herbstreit was in for more slander.
“Kirk Herbstreit is a clown 🤡. He didn’t even mention the Vikings as one of the best rosters/teams in the NFC,” wrote one on X. The NFL sees its fair share of bad play calling but sometimes it gets too outrageous. Maybe the commentator in question should take people’s feelings into consideration and not say things just for the sake of it.
