Home/NFL

Giants fans have been through it lately. The once-mighty franchise that gave us Super Bowl moments to remember (hello, David Tyree’s helmet catch) now struggles to fetch ten wins. And let’s be honest, patience is running thin. With playoff appearances looking like a distant dream, fingers point toward the ownership. John Mara, the man at the helm, hasn’t exactly been the fanbase’s favorite lately. Whether it’s the coaching carousel or the team’s struggle to find its footing, fans are ready for a shake-up. Now imagine two of the franchise’s biggest legends, Eli Manning and Michael Strahan, taking things into their own hands.

Exciting, right?

What if the faces that once defined the Giants on the field made their mark in the boardroom? It’s just a whisper for now (nothing’s set in stone), but you can bet fans wouldn’t mind seeing some of that Super Bowl-winning magic trickle into ownership.

The talk of the town is that Giants legends Eli Manning or Michael Strahan (or both) could own minority stakes in their former team. There are no official confirmations on this, but just the thought of them shaping the team’s future got fans buzzing.

Ownership stakes in NFL teams by former players are not unusual. And it’s starting to feel less like a surprise and more like a trend. Take Tom Brady, for example. The GOAT didn’t just ride off into the sunset after retiring. The former Pats QB in 2023 dipped his toes into the WNBA, buying a minority stake in the Las Vegas Aces. Then he snagged a 5% stake in the Las Vegas Raiders this year.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Eli Manning and Michael Strahan bring back the Giants' glory days with a stake in ownership?

Have an interesting take?

So, the whispers about Eli Manning or Michael Strahan potentially owning a piece of their former team aren’t exactly out of left field. And how can fans not have a say in this?

Fans react to Eli Manning or Michael Strahan’s minority ownership stake

The news of Eli Manning and Michael Strahan possibly taking a minority ownership stake in the Giants has sparked plenty of chatter online. Some are hyped, saying things like, “Honestly, I would not mind either one being some sort of President of Football Operations. And being the middleman between Mara and GM.”

People are looking for a shift in leadership. And both these legends seem like they could bring a fresh perspective to the table. “I was thinking how good this would be,” one fan added, totally on board with the idea. But, of course, some remain unconvinced. “I hope so, then they might win something,” said another fan. It looks like fans lost hope seeing the team struggle every season.

As expected, the internet has its fair share of opinions, and things are a little split. Some fans are backing Eli all the way. “If true, I hope it’s Eli. Strahan’s politics turn me off,” one comment read.

Another fan wasn’t thrilled with Strahan and Eli’s public criticism of the Giants, “Eli. Strahan might have gone too far trashing the Giants live. It seems ownership is petty like that.

But others are firmly on Eli’s side, with one fan mentioning, “Eli went on the record to say if he was to be an owner, there was only one team he would like to own, and that’s the Giants. I don’t think he was just saying it to say it. I feel he’s legitimately interested.

The debate rages on, and who knows -maybe one of them could be part of the team’s future.
