Is there anything left for the Cowboys to fight for this season? Well, probably not, as they prepare to take on their divisional rivals in the nation’s capital. Sitting in third behind the Commanders and the Eagles in their division, only a late-season push could help them make the playoffs. But it would also mean a slip-up from their divisional rivals, which doesn’t seem to be a viable option.
Well, the only wins the Cowboys have this season are all on the road. So, this clash was supposed to be their chance to exact vengeance against anyone who criticised them this season. However, the Cowboys themselves have probably given up as they take a limping squad to face the Commanders. They would be without their two starting offensive guards, Zack Martin and Tyler Smith, who are deemed to be inactive.
Both of them went down with ankle injuries against the embarrassing 34-10 loss to the Texans last week. With them missing out on today’s clash, the Cowboys could start T.J. Bass and Brock Hoffman in their place. And they aren’t the only ones who are going to remain inactive. As the fans started to call out the Cowboys for tanking their season, “Well, at least the team understands the mission. tank szn.”

So, apart from their two experienced starting guards, the Cowboys will be without Trevon Diggs for the first time this season. Diggs, who is a two-time Pro Bowler, has recorded 37 tackles with eight pass deflections and two interceptions. Him dealing with groin and knee injuries could lead to Josh Butler or Israel Mukuamu starting against the Commanders.
Even their WR Brandin Cooks, who was supposed to return this week from his knee injury, will not play on Sunday. Elsewhere, the Cowboys are also set to watch Jake Ferguson and Deuce Vaughn remain inactive on the offense. This means their backup QB, Cooper Rush, will have his options cut down severely. And don’t forget DeMarcus Lawrence and Dak Prescott, who were already on the list of inactive players before the calls about their tanking went viral.

What’s your perspective on:
Are the Cowboys really tanking, or is it just a series of unfortunate events this season?
Have an interesting take?
While the Cowboys are getting called for tanking their season already, the Commanders have a huge opportunity on their hand. As the Cowboys head into the clash without starting offensive guards, the Commanders may shred them to pieces. Coming to this clash, the Cowboys have allowed 365.7 yards per game, which includes 151 rushing yards. Their offense ranks 31st among all the other NFL franchises this season.
So, seeing them travel to Washington without proper players led to fans giving their honest opinion, “To be honest it feels like the tank is on and has been since the offseason. First they barely do anything until late camp and then a ton of guys get hurt and are just about always kept out 2-3 extra games on top of what they were supposed to miss. I think they had this planned.” Although we don’t know whether the Cowboys have some ulterior motive behind them taking such a limping squad to Washington. They could see themselves moving up on the NFL draft next season if their losing streak continues.
However, fans are still calling them out for tanking by asking the Cowboys to spill the truth, “They are tanking. It’s obvious. They should come out & say it.” Well, among all those reactions, there was another who called out the Cowboys O-line to be a ‘sack city.’ Some are even posing serious questions on Rush’s protective cover today, “Cooper Rush will spend a good portion of his day looking at the sky while on his back.”
