Has Jake Elliott lost his magic touch, or is this just a temporary slump for the Eagles' kicker?

What’s the deal with the kickers this season, man? There weren’t so many missed field goals last season. What’s happened all of a sudden? Jake Elliott was one of the most reliable guys when it came to scoring points last season. Heck, the Eagles wouldn’t have come as far as they did last season if it weren’t for their kicker. The tush-push play was washed out really quickly.

Elliott is having a bad season and the game against the Commanders has made it even worse. Philly fans are emotional and the kicker missing two field goals has brought out the worst in them. The former Pro Bowl kicker has had no problems missing FGs within 40-yard range, but this time, he did.

He missed the first FG for the day from 44 yards in the Eagles opening drive, which was surprising. The weather isn’t even that bad. What’s the excuse here? The Eagles could have been 9-7 by halftime, but here we are, longing for a better scoreboard. The second field goal Elliot missed was a 51-yard kick, that he sent flying wide right.

The Eagles kicker has missed all four of his kicks beyond 50 yards this season. And the fans want him fired. That’s just putting it politely. If the Eagles lose against their divisional rivals, the Commanders, Elliott is going to get a lot of flak.

An Eagles fan was fuming after Elliott missed two FGs and wanted the Eagles to “cut Jake Elliot.” Another guy wanted the kicker to make up for his mistakes and treat the whole defensive squad to dinner next month as he wrote, “Jake Elliot better be buying the defense dinner for the next month good he’s been brutal this year.”

Another fan had a knee-jerk reaction to Elliott missing the field goals and wanted the Eagles to straight up waive him as he wrote, “Jake Elliot needs to be on waivers tomorrow @Eagles #TNF.” A Philly fan was confused with the way the kicker had been playing and penned down, “Jake Elliot what we doing bro.”

Another person was sure that if the Eagles lost this game, it was going to be on Jake ‘the Make’ as he wrote, “Jake Elliot gonna lose this game for the Eagles lol.” This one fan said he would have fired Elliott mid-game if he was the GM, “Jake Elliot lucky I ain’t the GM. I’d cut his a-s mid-game.”

While the Eagles showed promise in the last five games. They’ve won by being the top NFL team to execute designed run plays. However, the same can’t be said about the home game against the Commanders. If it comes down to putting all the stocks in Elliot, the Eagles might want to give him a motivational speech so he doesn’t miss.
