After three seasons, the Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson. The reason was obviously a continuous fallout, including the latest 4-13 season. Hence, as it was short of expectations of Jaguars’s owner, Shahid Khan, the team made this crucial decision on Monday. However, they retained the general manager, Trent Baalke.

Now that the season is over, Shahid Khan’s team is hunting for their new head coach. And that search process has already begun. This is evident in Jacksonville Jaguars’s statement which they posted on Wednesday on their official X account.

Shahid Khan’s team announced, “We have requested an interview with Brian Flores for our Head Coach vacancy.” The former Dolphins coach and current Vikings defensive coordinator, Flores, has impacted Minnesota’s defense, turning it around in two years. This is evident in the 2024 season ranking, where the Vikings are fifth in points per game, and 10th in yards per play allowed.

Hence, Shahid Khan and the team think Flores can be a great option as the head coach for their team, amidst their HC hunting process. However, as the Vikings are into the playoffs, the DC will be available for a virtual interview with the Jaguars only after they win. But if they lose, he will be available in person the next week. So, the Jags are keeping their fingers crossed.

But it seems this idea didn’t suit well with many NFL fans, who took to social media to call out against the Vikings and their GM.

Is no one interested in Shahid Khan’s decision?

As Shahid Khan and the Jaguars have decided to move with Brian Flores, if all things settle well, fans are against the decision. For instance, one fan said, “Ben Johnson & Fire Baalke.” This social media user requested the Jaguars to pick Johnson (Lions’s OC) as their HC, but first of all, fire general manager, Baalke.

Undoubtedly, the Lions have been portraying themselves as one of the best NFC teams since last season. And this year, too, they achieved the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Hence, some fans think Johnson could be a great coach for the Jags, given his current team’s top-five scoring offense in all three seasons under him.

So, many think Brian Flores is not the right choice, as they also commented on the team’s post, “Sweet Moses… WTH is going on here,” “Yeah no thanks,” or “NOOOOO.”

Besides this, several others had a similar opinion, as they wanted the GM to be fired. For example, one X user wrote, “Fire Baalke.” In addition, other comments such as “WE have requested YOU TO FIRE BAALKE!!!,” or “Can you fire the GM now so we have a chance of getting to .500 maybe 4x a decade??” flooded the page.

The frustration and anger could easily be visible from these fans’s comments. And the reason is, under Trent Baalke, the Jaguars have only made it into the playoffs just once. He will now enter his fifth season with the team, and the rest of the tenure has just seen 3 or 4-win seasons.
