Ankle injury, what’s that? When everyone thought that Patrick Mahomes would take a cautious approach against the Texans on Saturday. He is doing the complete opposite. Mahomes has sent a huge statement to the league that his ankle injury isn’t a concern anymore. Well, it was through the Chiefs QB that the reigning Super Bowl Champions opened their account today.

Within the first drive itself, Mahomes scrambled for a 15-yard rushing TD. Before that, he also rushed for 12 yards, thereby showing his resilience in fighting back from an injury. Now, it was all down to the Chiefs’ defense that stepped up to offer Mahomes that platform to rush. When the Texans had their first offensive drive going, it came to a sudden halt thanks to the Chiefs rookie defensive back Jaden Hicks.

He picked off C.J. Stroud’s pass on third-and-12, putting an early stop to Houston’s first drive. The Chiefs then took over at their own 34-yard line to start the next drive. However, a holding penalty set them back on third-and-13. From there on, it was all Mahomes. When Houston defenders thought they had the Chiefs QB trapped in their pocket. Mahomes found a way to run through the middle and gave the Chiefs an early 7-0 lead.

Fans call out Patrick Mahomes for faking his ankle injury

Patrick Mahomes isn’t just any other regular QB in the league. He functions a little differently. Because of the way he hobbled and left the game in the final minutes last week. It looked like the Chiefs were in huge trouble. But Mahomes has shrugged off any talks of the Chiefs moving with him. Instead, he has made the fans wonder whether his injury was fake. As soon as Mahomes 15-yard rushing TD went viral. Some of the fans instantly jumped onto their phones and wrote their thoughts on Mahomes’ injury. One of them said it was just an act, “This proves his ankle “injury” is just an act.”

Was it really because there weren’t many who thought Mahomes was faking his injury? Instead, there were initial concerns that the Chiefs QB might have suffered an MCL. Although that didn’t happen, the fans are convinced, “That was the fakest ankle injury of all time.” Now, those reactions didn’t stop there, as another questioned the reality behind his injury, But his ankle…. It’s almost as if it wasn’t even real.”

Well, there was another who wondered whether it was just magic that healed Mahomes’ ankle: “Mahomes ankle magically better huh.” While we aren’t really sure what got into Mahomes there, it was his longest rushing TD in the NFL. His previous best came back in 2022 against the Titans, where Mahomes rushed for 14 yards. Now, the next time Mahomes gets injured, fans may even outright refuse to believe that news.
