Here comes the money—don’t be surprised if the Browns played Shane McMahon’s WWE entrance song the next time Myles Garrett takes the field in Cleveland. Garrett probably said to himself, ‘What’s a Vince Lombardi in Cleveland? We don’t know what a Super Bowl trophy is.’ Hmm! Garrett hypocrisy has a limit, you know. But in your case it wasn’t. As soon as the Browns came in with a record-breaking deal, Garrett took a u-turn on his dreams. That’s right. Cleveland has just made their former No.1 overall the highest-paid non-QB in the NFL history.
I mean just days after the Raiders crowned their star edge-rusher Maxx Crosby with a $35.5M per season salary. It never looked like someone else would match those numbers, at least for some time. However, the Browns were like, ‘what you can do, I can do better.’ Crosby is dethroned as Garrett takes his place to rewrite the NFL history books again. The Browns have given their 6-time Pro Bowl edge-rusher a humongous $160M extension. This deal averages $40M per year with $123.5M in guaranteed money in the next 4 years. Not gonna lie that’s some crazy money.
Actually wait, there’s a catch. Garrett’s new deal means he is now under contract for the next 6 years at $204.79M. And funny enough, there’s no trade clause. You know what that means, Garrett ain’t going anywhere at least till 2030. So, the path from Cleveland to Canton he was talking about isn’t changing after all. Just listen to what Garrett’s agent, Nicole Lynn, had to say after negotiating this deal with the Browns front office.

“Andrew Berry and I spent the last 36 hours getting the deal done, basically. Myles had a change of heart and he’s excited to go from Cleveland to Canton and chase a championship in Ohio.” Change of heart huh!! How can someone who was so adamant in not signing an extension last week give up his Super Bowl dream? Money of course. In the end, it’s the money that talks. Garrett’s new deal also makes him $100M in the first 3 years. It also includes $1M in just yearly workout bonuses. So, it’s money everywhere from now on for the Browns defensive end.
Maybe that’s why as soon as the news of him signing this mega extension hit the market. The NFL community was quick to taunt Garrett after everything he tried to do in hopes of winning a Super Bowl.

Fans bash Myles Garrett for accepting money over Super Bowl glories
Garrett made it pretty clear at the start of last month he wanted to chase Super Bowl dreams instead of playing a part in another rebuild. “The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl,” Garrett said in a statement expressing his desire to be traded away. Well, for quite some time, this trade fiasco continued. With the Browns constantly refusing to entertain any offers whatsoever.

And in the end they stayed true to their word. Garrett finally put ink to the paper, which will keep him in Cleveland for years to come. So, this fan on X was quick to take a jibe at Garrett pointing out, “I thought Myles wanted to win a Super Bowl lmaooo.” Not anymore. If not, the Browns turn around their fortunes in the next 4 years. Garrett will remain without a Super Bowl. And to be honest it’s not gonna happen until they sort out their QB room.

As for Garrett, he kept on getting taunted for accepting this huge deal despite seeing the mess in Cleveland. “Big money, but big wins? Hmm not there yet,” another fan added. Imagine Garrett was getting shouts of a possible trade to the Eagles. There he could have fulfilled his dream of winning a Lombardi. But no, instead he chose money. “It’s all about the money.” In the end, he doesn’t care about going to a winning team. And instead chose to be a part of yet another God knows how many more rebuilds.
