“It doesn’t matter that we’re the ‘B’ crew,” Greg Olsen had said in September this year about what will only be described as a snub by others, but not Olsen himself. Having joined FOX in 2021, and being shifted to the No. 1 team ahead of the 2022 season, Olsen’s career trajectory took a “hit” (courtesy of Tom Brady) when he was moved to the network’s No.2 team alongside Joe Davis and Pam Oliver. And let us tell you, fans were not happy, which was once again evident when the former New England Patriots player was name called as the best.
The incident unfolded on December 21 when NFL on FOX‘s official Instagram profile uploaded a video where Brady and Erin Andrews were seen talking to each other on the sidelines ahead of the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers game. While the caption read, “Drop those score predictions ⬇️”, the video contained the words, “Best crew in the game getting ready for Steelers-Ravens,” complete with a football and fire emoji. And, as expected, hordes of fans jumped in questioning the duo’s legitimacy as a part of the “best crew”. But before we get to the meat of the story…
The news about Brady replacing Greg was as scandalous as it can get. After all, Olsen has been awarded a Sports Emmy for Top Event Analyst winner in 2023, and also an Outstanding Emerging On-Air Talent in 2022, since joining FOX. Brady, on the other hand, is one of the most popular NFL players in history (on a 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX), and it would only make sense for him to go to the top team.

However, things started going downhill as Brady’s seemingly lackluster skills came to the forefront. On one particular occasion, fans and industry insiders absolutely did not mince their words to criticize him—more specifically, his voice.
ESPN senior writer Don Van Natta Jr said, “Tom Brady’s problem, and ours, is his voice. No matter how much his commentary might improve, Brady’s delivery system teeters between mildly annoying to nails-on-a-chalkboard. It doesn’t help he’s paired with Kevin Burkhardt, whose magisterial voice is made for a microphone.”
Skip Bayless, on the other hand, wasn’t as kind with his words: “Tom Brady was the greatest NFL player ever by far. But as a TV analyst, he’s nothing but Daniel Jones. I’m sorry, but Tom Brady drove me nuts yesterday during the Detroit-Green Bay game with his endless, giddy, captain-obvious blabber…He just talks and talks and talks some more about what is so clichedly obvious. So annoyingly obvious, so Patriots-Brady talking to the media obvious. So eager to be nice guy Tom obvious. So little insight, so many words. So many close-ups. ‘Hi, I’m Tom Brady’. Yeah, we know, unfortunately, we know, Tom.”
Then, during the week 14 game between the Rams and Bills, fans claimed they would prefer watching the game on mute rather than listening to him. Though fans love the legend for his technical breakdown of the sport, they missed Greg Olsen.
However, for the missed broadcaster, he’s never had an ounce of doubt about his successor. “I want him to do well. I want him to succeed. I want him to feel I’m a good teammate. It’s no different than if he came into the locker room when I was a player and we happened to play the same position. My success is not contingent upon Tom. Tom being really good doesn’t make me less good, and Tom being bad doesn’t make me better. Fox has two top teams, and that’s how I view it. But I’ve talked to Joe about this: I want people to think that Joe and I are the best crew on television. It doesn’t matter that we’re the ‘B’ crew.”

Well, if only fans have Brady the same benefit of the doubt…
Fans troll FOX’s new team
One angry fan didn’t mince his words and commented, “Nah that would be Greg Olson.” Another fan quantified how many times Greg Olsen was better than Tom Brady and mentioned, “Greg Olsen is 10000000000x better than Brady.” Many others had similar reactions.

One fan even trolled the network for showing Erin Andrews, too, among the best crew and brought up some controversial past of the network and mentioned, “Erin Andrews 🧏🏼♀️: “HI. I’m white. I lied about doing interviews at work and they couldn’t care less!” #FauxKnews #FauxSports #$787Mjudgement.” For those of you who don’t know, he referred to the $787 million that the network paid to settle their defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems Inc.
Another fan mentioned the way to make the best crew, which was to remove Tom Brady and wrote, “Be best crew if Brady go and Greg Olson come back.” However, one person used a tinge of sarcasm to troll the network while commenting, “Is Greg Olsen in the room with us right now?”
A similar sentiment was shown by another fan who replied, “Minus Brady it would be, bring back Greg Olsen he’s so much better than that Primadonna Brady.” So it’s clear. Most fans want Olsen back. It would be an impressive combination if the network could find a way to make Olsen and Brady sit together. That would be massive. Do you think FOX would consider it?
