The Jets somehow dragged themselves to the end of the 2024 NFL season. Now they are busy moving important pieces on the board. Their head-coach search seems to be over as the Jets have hired Aaron Glenn as the new HC. But the quarterback-related talks are not showing any such signs. Aaron Rodgers‘ two years in the franchise have been considered a failed attempt. In 2023, he missed the entire season with a torn Achilles. Whereas 2024 was a different kind of disaster, with only 5 wins and ending up 3rd in the AFC East.

So, what else could be a result of this than talking about QB and HC? Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich (interim) are gone and the debates about Aaron Rodgers’ career in NY are showing an increasing trend. One such debate that went viral on social media was of Dan Orlovsky. The former NFL star has some advice for the New York Jets about Aaron Rodgers. The ESPN analyst has advised, “I think they have to entertain Aaron Rodgers. And that’s a little bit dependent on who the head coach is.”

The former quarterback continued, “But Aaron Rodgers in the last seven or eight weeks of the season did play winning football, though after he got healthy.” Then, talking about whether the Jets move on from Aaron Rodgers or not, Orlovsky said, “Well, they are not in a situation where they draft somebody early on. But you also have to have them playing for the future.”

The analyst also added, “So, even when you decide ‘we want Aaron back’, they do have to entertain some young quarterback relatively early in the draft that, at least, you can say, ‘this young man has some potential and he’s not ready to play right now but it’s the development of their future. And their future gotta be a big deal.” Well, the 41-year-old QB has not yet decided or spoken out anything about his future with the Jets. But he did say in December that he is ready to take pay cuts.

Though Aaron Rodgers couldn’t give a better result for his franchise in terms of playoff qualification, his stats were quite decent this season. The 41-year-old veteran is 8th in passing yards with 3897 yards and 7th in touchdown passes, where he landed a total of 28. His 11 interceptions thrown are fewer than the likes of Jared Goff and CJ Stroud. But… fans are not okay with it. The last time they entered the playoffs was the 2010 season. That’s why fans have contradictory opinions about the ESPN analyst’s suggestions.

But before looking at fans’ comments, one more problem Aaron Rodgers might face is the new HC. Fans have welcomed Glenn’s hiring for the HC job, appreciating his straightforward and disciplined approach, as well as his special connection with the Jets. The new HC was also the draft pick of the NY Jets in 1996 as a cornerback. With Aaron Glenn is coming on board, there is a presumption he may want a new QB for his squad.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Aaron Rodgers still the answer for the Jets, or is it time to move on?

So, when Dan Orlovsky said that the Jets should entertain Aaron Rodgers, he was highly criticized. Let’s see what the fans said.

Fan fired shots at Orlovsky for the controversial analysis of Aaron Rodgers’ future

One fan commented on the ESPN analyst’s remark, “You know nothing man shut up, we need to draft a QB.” While another said, “A newbie coach having to immediately deal with endless questions about Rodgers 24-7? doesn’t seem ideal.” Some fans also reminded Orlovsky about the backup QB, with one saying, “I think everyone forgets about Jordan Travis.” In addition, another joined him, saying, “Umm Jordan Travis?”

On the new QB talks, one fan replied to ESPN’s post, saying, “Are they willing to lose Garrett Wilson in order to keep Aaron Rodgers? Cause if they keep him Wilson will request a trade.” While another fan again remembered Jordan Travis, saying, “I’m so confused listening to other analysts talk about the Jets QB options and future. NO one is really talking about Jordan Travis. Why? Shouldn’t he be ready to start practicing this season?”

The team placed Jordan Travis on the reserve list on August 27, 2024. But according to Sports Illustrated, the 24-year-old QB has not recovered from the injury yet and may take more time. Before the severe leg injury, he was ripping apart college football as a Florida State QB. So, fans are curious about his injury update as a replacement for Aaron Rodgers.
