It was Sunday night. While the fans expected a tough battle between the Chargers and the Bengals, And it proved to be one. Till week 10, the former have a 6-3 win-loss record while the latter are struggling with a 4-6 win-loss record. But everyone noticed one thing. Justin Herbert found a new fan. Not an ordinary one. It’s the announcer Cris Collinsworth.

There were multiple moments during the first half when the NBC announcer went a little overboard with his excitement about the Chargers’ QB. In the second quarter, with 11 minutes remaining, the Chargers were on 2nd & 7, when Herbert made a touchdown throw to Quentin Johnston. Collinsworth was pumped up, and said, “They’re gonna make a poster of this throw!”

While that pass was a good one, there were some instances when nobody could understand his antics. He simply couldn’t get over the touchdown pass. He intercepted fellow announcer Mike Tirico, asking him to go back to the touchdown pass, and said, “Zzzzzzzzz on that one.”

Later in the game, he said something which annoyed the fans. While talking about Justin Herbert, he claimed that the Chargers QB was becoming a running QB like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. That was it. Many believe that was excessive.

Fans went on a rampage after this, attacking him left, right, and center.

Cris Collinsworth got bashed by fans for Justin Herbert’s praise

Everyone was surprised by the announcer. Another fan was amazed at the love between the announcer and the quarterback. He claimed that even the Chargers HC loves him less, and mentioned, “Cris Collinsworth might love Justin Herbert more than Jim Harbaugh likes Justin Herbert — and I didn’t think that was possible.” That’s extreme.

“Cris Collinsworth is currently beating one in the booth watching Justin Herbert,” was the reaction of one fan who just could not bear his awful praise. Many were reminded of Tony Romo, who is also known to be a fan of Patrick Mahomes. One fan pointed that out and commented, “Justin Herbert is to Cris Collinsworth as Mahomes is to Tony Romo.”

One angry fan got so fed up with hearing him on the screen that he couldn’t contain his emotions anymore and wrote on X, “Will Cris Collinsworth please shut the f— up.” But another fan just called him similar to Romo and wrote, “Cris Collinsworth and Tony Romo are the most annoying announcers.”

While the fans were angry at the NBC announcer, the Chargers fans were happy. Justin Herbert looked great as the leader of the O-line on the gridiron while the Bengals were heartbroken. Stay tuned for more of such entertaining stories.
