After a relatively smooth season, the Chiefs suffered a significant setback on the big stage. Not only did they lose, but they barely avoided a blowout loss after scoring a couple of touchdowns in the fourth quarter. It was a game where the team absolutely failed, and it appears that one of the reasons for it has been found. Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs’ top star, was noticeably off-track in this game. And perhaps the cause was the knock to the head he received.
Nobody knew about this during the game, however, it appears that MLFootball’s official X page has heard some talks among fans. They posted on X that Patrick Mahomes was tackled hard in the first quarter. While it was a leg tackle, the quarterback fell on his head, sparking rumors of a concussion. The post read, “#NFL fans are speculating that #Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may have suffered a head injury in the first quarter. Mahomes head was violently slammed into the ground. Pat has then had the worst game of their career… could be an explanation for why”

While it could be a significant thing that influenced the Chiefs’ offensive control. It appears that the supporters do not consider it legitimate at all. Well, fans have been calling this post an excuse since it has been trending. Everyone believes Mahomes was overhyped for this game. And now that he has failed to deliver a terrific performance, the fans are looking for excuses to cover up. One fan clearly stated, “Sounds like excuses tbh.” This fan was not alone in pointing this fact out as another stated, “Right on cue for people to try to make excuses for him.”

This was not it, as several fans began to say that they had foreseen something like this. They believe that after the game, when Patrick Mahomes was unable to cap it off, supporters would begin to hunt for something. And maybe this is the thing which they have come up with. One of the fans stated, “I told everyone they’d come up with an excuse for his terrible game.”
Some supporters even stated that the game was the biggest stage where something like this would not be overlooked. They claim, “Stop making excuses. This was too big for the refs to rig.” While everyone was pointing to this as an excuse, one fan really praised the Eagles. He said that they performed better than Mahomes. They stated, “Nah. The Eagles just dominated the Chiefs O Line. No excuses.”
While fans are using Patrick Mahomes’ injuries as an excuse. The squad’s head coach has already given them another reason why the team may have lost. Wait, what could it be?
Andy Reid blames himself for the loss
No one is sure why Reid would make such a claim. But you know what? This is why he is one of the tournament’s top HCs. If you’re there to claim credit, you should also accept responsibility for the loss. Andy Reid did the same in an interview, where he believes his strategies and plans for the players were incorrect.

The HC stated, “Compliment to our fans and all the support they’ve given us. Today was a rough day, didn’t really play well in any of the phases, and didn’t coach good enough. They did a nice job.” It was clearly visible how sad and disappointed Ried really was from how the game turned out.
The Chiefs struggled to adjust to the Eagles’ relentless defensive pressure. Philadelphia’s front seven dominated the trenches, yet Kansas City’s offensive scheme remained largely the same, lacking quick fixes to counteract the Eagles’ pass rush. The Chiefs, a team known for offensive creativity, seemed stagnant. Their usual mid-game adjustments never came, and by the time they found the end zone late in the third quarter, it was far too late.
Another glaring issue was red-zone inefficiency. Throughout his career, Reid has leaned on aggressive play-calling in big games, but this time, the Chiefs settled for field goals when touchdowns were needed. Whether it was an overreliance on Mahomes’ ability to create magic or simply a lack of trust in the offensive line, Reid’s strategy ultimately failed.

But still, Reid showed how much faith he has in his guys. The man gave all the players hats off for the games they have played this year. “I’m proud of our guys, though. The battle and the fight they put in throughout the year, all the games that they played here over the last few years,” he said. “My hat goes off to the guys for that.”
Whatever transpired on the field, one thing is certain: the Eagles have prevented a massive history from being created. And, rather than the Chiefs’ poor performance, Philadelphia’s stars should be praised.
