Von Miller thought he had another season in Buffalo. The Bills thought otherwise. Just months after the veteran pass rusher talked about his plans to stay, Buffalo cut him loose. And just like that, another chapter in Miller’s storied career comes to an end—because, as he put it himself, “If you want to make God laugh, start making plans.”
The move isn’t exactly a shocker. I mean, at 35, the ‘pink letter’ was just waiting to be unsealed from the envelope. Oh, he’d be 36, come March 26. But the Bills Mafia did not want their SB-champ and veteran to have such a treatment. You can imagine why.

Miller’s first season in Buffalo, the 2022 season, showed why the Bills brought him in first place—eight sacks in 12 games—it was going smoothly. But then, like it is with almost every veteran, a knee injury hit the brakes and he couldn’t make a comeback like the Miller pro football was used to.
The production never quite bounced back. Six sacks last year. A reduced role. A hefty contract. The writing was on the wall, and on Sunday morning, the Bills made it official.
But, nonetheless, this release marks the end of a three-year stint that saw Miller become a respected leader in the locker room, even if injuries slowed his impact on the field. His 129.5 career sacks still have him sitting at No. 16 all-time, and there’s no doubt he’ll be remembered as one of the best to ever do it. But the question now? What’s next for the eight-time Pro Bowler?
Could he chase one last ring? A reunion with Denver? A contender in need of a veteran presence? The market will tell. But one thing’s for sure—Bills Mafia is taking their ‘not so sweet’ time to get over it.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Bills make a mistake letting Von Miller go, or was it time to move on?

Bills Mafia rally behind in support of Von Miller
If there’s one thing you don’t mess with, it’s Bills Mafia and their loyalty. Buffalo’s decision to cut Von Miller? Yeah, that didn’t exactly go over well. Fans weren’t just disappointed—they were heated. And when Bills fans get fired up, tables aren’t the only things taking a hit.
One fan came out swinging: “Bad move Buffalo! He got Denver and LA a Super Bowl and his determination is enough with some additional help on D to get you there as well. Bring him back!!!!” And honestly, they have a point. Miller wasn’t just another pass-rusher—he was a Super Bowl closer. He did it for the Broncos in Super Bowl 50. Then did it again for the Rams. Sure, he’s not in his prime anymore, but counting out a guy with his resume? Risky business.

Another fan made sure to call out the casuals: “Casuals will talk down on his contributions but he unquestionably helped change the culture in our locker room. Hopefully he comes back on a vet minimum for one last ride.” This isn’t just about sacks and stats—it’s about leadership. The Bills’ locker room wasn’t just losing a veteran edge rusher; they were losing a guy who knew how to win. Even after a brutal knee injury, Miller still managed six sacks in 2024. Not exactly washed.

Then came the short but confident prediction: “He will be back.” No explanation, no hesitation. Just a statement of belief, as if Von Miller’s return is already written in the football gods’ playbook. And let’s be real—this could happen. Miller’s release was all about the cap space (saving the Bills $17.5 million), but if both sides are open to a reunion, why not make it happen? A cheaper contract, a reduced role, and boom—Buffalo gets its veteran presence back.

Another Bills Mafia member made sure Miller felt the love: “@VonMiller thank you for being part of #BillsMafia. You gave us hope, showed resilience coming off the most difficult knee injuries, gave six QB sacks in 2024, & what a valuable team member you are. Hope BB will bring you back part of the D coaching staff. Once a Bill ALWAYS a Bill!” The appreciation is real. Injuries slowed him down, but nobody’s forgetting what he brought to the team. Some fans don’t just want him back as a player—they want him coaching. That’s how much respect he commands.
And finally, one fan summed up the raw emotions perfectly: “I don’t care what 20% of you say. This sucks. @VonMiller please re-sign.” No sugarcoating. Just pure, unfiltered frustration. Whether the front office sees it the same way is another story, but if Miller wants one last ride in Buffalo, the Mafia has already made their stance crystal clear.
