The debate regarding the Bengals and their roster is not going away anytime soon. Major stars like Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase are clinging by a thread. The team is not taking things seriously and fans are tired of waiting. There are numerous possibilities that the team can go for, and no one knows what the current plan is. But you know what? They have officially opted to make a big change. They are ready to sign their last year’s punter. So, just who is he?
Obviously, the punter in question is Ryan Rehkow, who has officially re-signed with the team. Initially, the Bengals signed Rehkow during the offseason of 2024. He was a rookie, but the team accepted the risk and gave him an opportunity in all 17 games. And after that, he made every game a great show. The punter made 53 punts for 2603 yards, with a net average of 42.9. Jeez! These numbers are not normal.

Rehkow’s talent earned him a new deal that runs through the 2026 season. The announcement for the Punter stated, “We have signed P Ryan Rehkow to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season.” The signing of Rehkow’s contract was a significant event and fans couldn’t be happier. While the fans are overjoyed, they are also disappointed that this announcement is not about Tee Higgins.
Together with Joe Burrow, the 26-year-old wide receiver had a fantastic 2024 season. Their combo demonstrated how much potential the Bengals have for winning the Super Bowl. However, despite his talent and promise, Higgins is yet to receive an extension. The WR signed a one-year contract with the team in 2024 for a salary of $21,816,000. This was a large amount for him, and if the team want to continue with him, certainly they would have to pay more.
Maybe this is why the Bengals haven’t determined what to do with Higgins. However, fans are understandably getting impatient. Even the comments on Ryan Rehkow’s re-sign announcement were mostly about Higgins.
Fans demand that the Bengals sign Tee Higgins ASAP
The WR’s fans have not stopped leaving comments on this X post. They have consistently praised the Punter’s contract extension but with a jab regarding Higgins. One of the fans commented, “Hell yeah. Now pay the others.” This fan was not alone as another had a similar taunt where they stated, “Hell yeah, now sign Tee thank you.”

Some supporters also pointed out that the money handed to the Punter is not disclosed. This implies that no one knows how much money the Bengals were left with. And whether it will be sufficient for them to sign further players like Tee Higgins: “How will we have the money to pay tee now?!” Well, this individual nailed a critical detail that others missed.
On the other hand, one fan highlighted that Higgins was not the first player the Bengals resigned, emphasizing that ideally he should have been prioritized by the team: “That’s not tee higgins.” This fan was also not alone as another one stated, “This isn’t @teehiggins5.” Aside from these comments, some supporters asked that the Bengals sign the wide receiver as soon as possible. They claimed that the sanity of the entire fan base rests on this signing: “For the sake of all the Bengals fans I know now sign Tee Higgins.” And one can’t really find fault in these comments because Higgins has proved to be a key player for the Cincinnati team, so the delay in his extension surely creates tension among fans. And the question is glaringly obvious here: is the team planning to retain him at all?

And let’s not forget that the fan sentiment further highlights Higgins’ market demand. So, you never know which other teams are ready to grab him once he hits free agency. With all the impatience among fans, and no clarity as of yet from the team, it’s safe to say Higgins could be heading anywhere. What do you think? Will the Bengals give Higgins an extension?
